Yep, at the very least HRC had a plan to deal with States trying to transition into the future. Of course, her administration (and any Dem POTUS) would have been hobbled by Rethug obstruction from the jump. But, we could have had a road map to what needed to be done.

Contrarily though I have to say when you talk about block grants and revitalization, retraining and retrofitting, all that community planner talk, the coal miners are going to zone out. Itâs just not real to them. When some big blusterer says I will bring your jobs back, that at least they can understand. I get that.

Well⌠The TVA board members are all presidential appointees and are confirmed by the senate⌠I donât know if he has the authority to fire them though⌠And, the current CEO of the TVA is the highest paid employee of the federal government. (not that that means anything⌠just interesting)

Not at all surprised, here in East TN, TVA is talking about the closer of two fossil plants. It cost more to upgrade an old inefficient plant than to build a new Natural Gas one. The current reason is that they just donât need the generation capacity as demand if falling.
A few years ago TVA started a program to encourage businesses to convert to solar. Was supposed to last three years. In under a year they stopped the program as interest and contracts actually started to interfere with generation planning.
When I retired to the area in 2010, I built a home and installed a solar field, made sure I was 100% off the grid. Even during an extended power outage due to ice I was able to provide my neighbors hot showers, washer/dryer, hot meals and a warm place to sleep. All this without any thought about usage etc. This year the ROI should be meet for that 2012 investment. In 2016, I sold the home and bought a rancher built in 1956 that had many, even by todayâs standards, innovations. I immediately removed all grid connections and installed solar, the ROI is actually two years lower, that is how much costs have dropped. I can appreciate TVA stating that demand has dropped, more businesses using solar, more homes installing solar, my and neighbors experience all around.

Number of years ago a tornado destroyed a Kansas town. The town fathers passed a resolution to go green with rebuilding. What did the KS legislature do, why outlaw any municipality from adding any green initiatives to public buildings.

The PA legislature did a similar thing with certain gun lawsâmade it so municipalities couldnât be more restrictive than the state code. Donât quote me on that before I look it up but I think that was the gist of it.
