Discussion: Kay Hagan And Mark Pryor Call For Travel Ban Over Ebola

Ebola is well understood by the medical community. The problem is that the US has a medical system that is based on profit for the share holders in many cases and things like training to meet an infectious outbreak are costly and thus don’t get done. We do plan for mass terrorist attacks. The irony is that the flu will kill more people this year in the US than ebola. As a nation we are afraid of our shadows and the media know how to fan that to make ratings points and politicians are proving that they are the lowest form of life on the planet.

Pryor and Hagan are resorting to the failed Dem tactic of appealing to the non-existent “reasonable republican voter”.

Their time would be better spent going for the unicorn vote.

Dems trying to go GOP light lose and look ridiculous and spineless in the process.

Why do people with no expertise imagine otherwise?

So, Paula Dean’s cutting hair now?

We don’t count on Big Pharma to do anything but rip us off.

The surgeon general has little impact on policy. Their job is primarily communicating to the Public.

The Ebola czar’s job would be implementation of Public health policy, not the creation of it. You wouldn’t necessarily want a doctor in this position unless they have bureaucratic experience.

You’re free to emigrate.

Reagan made it hip to pretend armchair quarterbacks are relevant.

They probably want to win the election, or at least try. Yes, yes, I know, I’ve read these comments, Americans are all a bunch of hysterical idiots, and you and a few select others are above it all and rational and superior to the hordes.

That may feel good on a message board, but as an electoral strategy, its a bit lacking.

Well put. Add that the nurses didn’t have a union to advocate for resources (e.g., protective clothing), and we’re done.

I know these two are Democrats, but Stupid is just Stupid. FUCKING PANDER QUEENS.

Two wrongs still don’t equal a right. Fear and distrust of our institutions does not counter a well thought out response. This one isn’t that response we should be getting from government. Of course we’ve got the clown show we voted for.

Thomas Jefferson said, "Enlighten the people generally, and tyranny and opressions of the body and mind will vanish like evil spirits at the dawn of day.”

The only group more wrong than President Jefferson are Republicans…

the mother of all bungles is 9/11 and Americans still vote Republican… amazing…

If a fire department which has refused its funding fails to put out the fire because it lacks equipment and get criticized, do you think that is the same thing as accusing the fire department of setting the fire?

If Perry had taken the Medicaid funding the hospital would have been less likely to turn the uninsured black man back into the community with a raging fever. Face it, the GOTP is dangerous to your health.
