Discussion: Kavanaugh Wrongly Claims Repeatedly That He Could Drink Legally In Maryland

Who’s is counting ?

In this post, I asked if he was grandfathered in (i.e. allowed to continue drinking under the 18 years-old rule, as opposed to 21), while the laws were being changed, noting that I’m too angry to read accurately at the moment. Calming down a little, I see it was explicitly covered and he was not grandfathered. I apologize. As I said, I can’t think straight.

STOP! YOU ARE USING “REGULAR PEOPLE RULES”
Don’t you understand? He went to GEORGETOWN PREP … “Regular People Rules” DO NOT apply to the Georgetown Prep Boys … they are the special few who are chosen to travel in the “first class” cabin of life …

But seriously … the relentless repetition of the lie by Kavanaugh is practically psychotic… virtually nobody is going to hold drinking beers back in high school against him … but his incessant repetition of an obvious lie is further evidence that this guy is unfit.

The GOP is completing the apotheosis of victimhood and partisan anger to the SCOTUS. They no longer even have standards of character and behavior; they have, instead, promises to support a treasonous president, and the ascent of rights for some but definitely not for all.
Of course he thinks he could drink legally. Laws don’t apply to people like him.

“Wrongly claims”? Seriously?

How about, “Federal Judge lies repeatedly under oath”?
Or maybe “Kavanaugh perjured himself repeatedly”?

Call a lie a lie.

The lies ooze from him like…well, you know…

I was very disappointed that the Democrats did not bring this point up with Kavanaugh. I read about this two or three days ago. Why didn’t any of the senators know about it? It is very important to expose him in verifiable lies and then see how he reacts.

Yes… there is no wiggle room on this one… Kavanaugh is Flat-out repeated LYING … it is not a “gray area” … it is as basic as 1+1=2 …

His high school age drinking is not the point of judgment … .
His incessant … belligerent LYING about an obvious fact is a disqualifier.

Oh, did poor Mr. Kavanaugh have a GAP IN HIS MEMORY about repeatedly BREAKING THE LAW?

I read his statement as older classmates, ie the seniors, could buy the beer that I and my 17 year old friends could drink. Which meant that he couldn’t drink legally and his friends broke the law in buying him beers. He lied often about more substantive matters yesterday, but this isn’t one of them.

Several similar points apply. Senate Dems don’t know how to deal with this naked level of aggression. The afternoon hearings were a big win for the GOP. I can’t watch MSNBC for all the whining. Nobody cares whether Kavanaugh lacks judicial temperament.

They needed to fight fire with fire. Whenever Kavanaugh evaded the question, attempted to talk over a Democratic Senator, they should have gotten rough with him. “Answer the question, Mr. Kavanaugh.” “Yes or No, Mr Kavanaugh”. “Mr. Chairman, if Mr. Kavanaugh continues to filibuster my questions I demand my time be extended.”

Amy Klobuchar used to be a prosecutor we’re told. The minute he started turning her questions about drinking back on her she could have said “you don’t get to ask questions here, I do.”

This was all about respect. The GOP won by humiliating the Dems with a lack of respect. It was about theater. Nothing takes down a bully more than a refusal to be bullied. The game was rigged, but a fight back would have kept the troops fired up. That’s important.

Barring the miracle of two GOP votes against Kavanaugh, this thing is over. It didn’t need to happen this way.

A judge who does not know even the laws which apply directly to him. Wonderful.

Someone should’ve followed up with his view on seniors buying beer for juniors and sophomores.

I have a feeling we’ll be soon seeing Kavanaugh on an episode of Cops. I can just see him standing shoeless in his yard wearing a wife-beater with his face all red and scrunched with his chin all wet and him yelling, “I didn’t do nuthin’ and I ain’t goin’ nowhere. I was the captain of the basketball team!” Then he starts sobbing.

… just figured out the weasel path…

He NEVER drank until he was 18…
And then ONLY in Washington D. C.

Yeah… that is it … perfect answer … fix a lie with two more lies…

I very much agree with you. And the lack of preparation for his lying was shameful. The drinking age was one example. Another example was when the Dems—I believe it was Whitehouse—asked him about the yearbook and he came up with ludicrous explanations for boof, Devil’s Triangle (apparently the GOP was caught trying to change Wikipedia to include a reference to a drinking game in the definition), Renate “alumnius,” and ffffffuck.

But there was no come-back on the Dems part! You didn’t expect that in his week of preparation he was going to come up with something—that he was simply going to fold when you asked him those questions? You couldn’t have been prepared yourselves and found out what the terms really mean?

I am beyond frustrated here.

Who provided these kids with so much beer while they were underage?

And how did all these drunk kids go home?

What did he tell the FBI during their investigation about his heavy underage drinking? (keep in mind they would of asked about his actions of 18+ when the legal age was 21+)

Democrats really need to push these demonstrable lies and false statements he’s made and keeps making. Them along with suspected drinking and sexcapades ought to be reason to vote no or wait until more checks are done.
