We only see part of the story in this staid and so very proper picture.
Behind the curtain we have Justice Kennedy, who could have waited and retired in March, giving the Democrats the opportunity, if they won back the Senate in November, to block all and any of Trump’s SC nominee. This is one reason why Kennedy retired when he did, as a favor to Trump. The other involves family ties and his son, Justin Kennedy, former global head of Deutsche Bank global real estate and a Trump associate. He was instrumental in lending Trump billions when no other bank would touch Trump. And how was he able to pull this off, who would secure this loan? SC Mueller will hopefully reveal the answer soon. Think Russians. This story isn’t over yet.
Let’s hope this fires up the Dems even more. As I recently heard on TV (Morning Joe) angry people vote, happy people don’t…of course GOP has found a way to keep their base permanently pissed off and afraid but, Dems are ticked off too!
Mitch claims the contentiousness of the hearings (that is, “Kavanaugh’s obvious unfitness for the bench”) has “united” GOP base. But the base’s only really loyalty is “owning the libs.” K seated now is not going to bring millions of new R voters to the polls in 4 weeks. But I think it will contribute to arrival of millions of new DEMs. As ever, it comes to #GOTV, an area in which D’s have historically fallen horribly short.
