Agreed. But it doesn’t look like Mueller views his task as purging all corruption from the federal government. He just dismissed 2 members of his team last week, suggesting that his probe is winding down rather than ramping up.

I think we’re all mistaken if we think Mueller is going to save this country.

There’s that
The Republicans won’t accept any any of his findings anyway, crying fake news and rigged on all Conservative Entertainment Complex
It will only change through the ballot box

I agree. The primary consequence of Mueller’s probe will be to change public opinion – there is no formal mechanism for acting on his findings that isn’t controlled by Trump’s accomplices and beneficiaries.

The only question is whether public opinion will change sufficiently, and quickly enough. If it takes more than one election cycle, the Kochs will have time to flush the current crop of puppets from congress, and with them the taint of this particular set of crimes.

The cost of Kavanaugh’s victory? The legitimacy of the US supreme court
Republicans might have won a majority in the country’s highest court but it has lost legitimacy at a critical moment

Now we begin the inevitable slouching toward overturning Roe v Wade. With an unassailable majority of horrible partisan conservatives on the SC, the US will be thrown back into the dark ages of back-alley abortions, lynchings of black citizens, segregation and the further disenfranchisement of minority voters. Gays, blacks, women and immigrants should be very afraid right now; this is not a dream, it’s a nightmare.

Hey, conservatives, just to be clear…

Don’t confuse us with being “goody two-shoes”, only dating school marms with skirts down to their ankles, and refraiming from sex until we’re thirty-five.

We’re liberals.

We’re the decadent sex perverts. We’re the Hollywood tanned thighs. We’re the use-abortion-for-birth-control bunch. We’re licentious. We love lying about Catholic prep boys. You know those football players who kneel? Have you seen their damn cheerleaders?

Chicks dig us. It’s Republicans who have to rape.

What kind of America do you want?

The cost?

Kavanaugh gets fifteen million dollars from the taxpayers, if he achieves his life expentancy, but with his liver, who knows? He also gets the warping of American values, and the permanent rupture of his family and descendants.

But it is a lot of money, and it is for the Party. It damn sure ain’t for God.

This hasn’t been covered nearly enough. It was touched on here and in some MSNBC reporting and at NYT, but those reporting it should’ve stayed with it and others should’ve picked it up. But it wasn’t sexy enough and there weren’t enough mentions of donaldtrump which everybody seems to want more than anything.

Agreed, and it’s a kinda scary thought. But … I think when the indictments come, Mueller is going to rock our world. The entire world - with 50+ indictments, Republican senators and congress critters as well. And of course Putin and the oligarchs. If the indictments only target the staffers I’m getting myself a passport.

The comity in the ceremony notwithstanding, my opinion of the Supreme Court has been damaged forever. It has been so much that if we ever reach the sufficient majorities we must remove the scum from the chamber.

Years from now, Mr. Bret’s daughter will have to answer questions about their father’s behavior. It will never go away based on observations by similar adult daughter who even today have to answer – 59+years later for grandfather’s behavior.

I don’t think the Republicans are counting on losing the Mid Terms. When McConnell decided to deprive Barack Obama of a vote on Merrick Garland he already knew the GOP would not pay a price. I think the GOP is counting on fixed Mid Terms.
