Discussion: Kasich Says He ‘Just Can’t’ Bring Himself To Vote For Trump Despite Pledge

Translation: I’d back him if he used code words and dog whistles like the rest of us here at the GOP have been doing for years.

I’m waiting for the Cleveland tipping point when GOP officeholders desert Trump for Gary Johnson.

Wasn’t he the Serious Adult One? Because he’s all “Ohoo Moi Gawd don’t even ask because I like literally can’t even right now…”

Kasich told Scarborough that he was still open to supporting Trump if he moderated his anti-minority rhetoric and pivoted towards the general election, something Trump has proven incapable of doing so far.

So, a lot more lipstick on the pig and Kasich can be flipped.

And since that lipstick will NOT be forthcoming - because Rump,- Kasich’s support will not be forthcoming.

i am happy to hear that Kasich is not on board at this time. I am aware of the untruthfulness of Republicans, but I’ll take what I can get.

ANY negative theme or event or opinion or datum about Trump is welcome in our house.

“The divisiveness, the division, the name calling it just doesn’t go down well with me,”

What a steaming load of crap! That is the heart of the Republican philosophy and you are a card-carrying member.

In the rest of the interview he blames the media for giving Trump a 24/7 platform without taking any responsibility for the Ohio Republican Party gerrymandering to allow Tea Party Republicans with the same rhetoric to win seats in the US House. Or take any responsibility for his personal purge of the state party county officers who kept some of this rhetoric in check. At no time when an elected ‘Freedom Caucus’ member said the same asinine things did he and other Right Wing “Moderates” push back. At no time did he defend the Muslim citizens in the Northland area of Columbus ( not that far from his exurban home) who voted early but were harassed.

You built this. You got elected by this. Now go sing another Vacation Bible School rendition of ‘How Great Thou Art’ at another rural county party meeting. Then give hugs to all the people just like you.

One more step forward on the path to substantial Republican opposition to Mr. Trump.

The momentum continues to build and we should encourage it, not denigrate it, even if it is still faint progress.

Yes: It’s like, ‘OK: if you pretend to be something totally different than what you really are I will be able to support you.’.

I think he means “Not yet”, clinging to the fantasy that Trump could change and sustain the change. But along the way he’ll do a Ryan header into the pit. Sadly.

Not exactly a profile in courage. Perhaps he thinks if he keeps it vague enough he will still be in the running if the GOP dumps Trump.

Not to worry Gov. Hillary and Liz will save you.

“I'm sorry this has happened. We'll see where it ends up.
I'm not making a final decision yet

I said I'm not prepared to do it and he's going to have
        to change,” Kasich said.

Ya know… There was a time that I was always " wishy-washy " –

But now I’m not so sure —

TPM:

“The divisiveness, the division, the name calling it just doesn’t go down well with me,” Kasich said last week, asking Trump to apologize to a federal judge for attacking his “Mexican” heritage.

John Kasich is upset that the Republican Presidential nominee is using the same rhetoric that the Republican base has been using for decades.

It’s almost like Kasich doesn’t know his own party.

Yeah, but in fairness…what lipstick color actually goes with that neon orange that is Trump??

For those, including John Kasich, to suggest that they will consider endorsing Trump if he “changes” and “moderates” that is pure bull shit. Trump’s views are already well known. Change what? Moderate what? If Trump tempers his language all he is doing is hiding his true beliefs. That will give Kasich enough comfort to endorse Trump? Bull. Shit. What is “is.”

Trump is close to a psychopath.

Let’s look at that and try to set aside partisanship. There should be a steady exodus of GOPPERS pulling the plug on Trump. His election would harm every American (unless they have a new planet picked out).

Even Republicans. One has to be nutty oneself not to see that.

I even read somewhere a couple of days ago that one of the Red State GOPPERS who would have probably been okay with re-implementing slavery muttered that “Trump was not the Nominee”.

One by one by one by one by one of GOPPERS should just walk away.
