He later told a bartender that he had killed two Middle Eastern men, according to a Thursday report by the Kansas City Star.
So the asshole went to a different bar after his crime?
That figures.
Out of curiosity, I went to Garmin’s website to see if there was any mention of their very public loss. Nothing. It did not give me the warm fuzzies.
While this affects all of us and we need to speak out, you’d think tech companies, in particular, would want and need to take the lead on this.
We’ve always been able to attract the best and the brightest because of our values, will that also change? If so, we’ll be much the poorer for it.
An act of violence like this is heinous, no matter the victim(s). Not meaning to imply otherwise.
“He asked us what visa are we currently on and whether we are staying here illegally,” Madasani told the New York Times by phone.
Trump won the election by encouraging the sick obsession with illegal immigration. Elections do have consequences, and this was a consequence of the 2016 election.
What were you expecting them to say on their website?
Ironic when you consider it should be Native American Indians who should be asking all of us if we are here legally…
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said on Friday that it was “absurd” to suggest any connection between President Donald Trump’s rhetoric and the shooting.
Fake President Trump and his many shills have been spewing incendiary hate toward immigrants all over the country and the airwaves for nearly two years. They have nurtured this bigotry into a full-blown hate war engaging just enough wackos out in the general population to trigger a growing number of destructive and violent incidents against minorities of all stripes. To believe that the White House and our so-called President have nothing to do with incidents such as what occurred in Olathe, Kansas is at best profoundly naive and at worse disingenuous in the extreme.
Given the record of the Trump campaign and its performance in office so far, it seems pretty clear that they are not at all naive but shamelessly dishonest.
.
Doesn’t Kansas require you to join a bar as a member of a private club in order to be served liquor? I remember arriving late one night in Lawrence, Kansas, walking to a bar for a drink before turning in, and being informed that they could not serve me because I was not a member of their private club.
Trump-induced crime…
Nope Yup, he shot two legal immigrants from India who were together, then shot a white American who tried to stop him. One man died, the other two survived.
EDIT: As was pointed out down thread, I misunderstood the question. The perp shot three people, then went to another bar and bragged about it.
There is blood on Trump hands.
Kansas!
A little off topic… but I just wanted to say Trump is the master of media manipulation. After the media focus was on Trump suggesting a second amendment solution to Hillary on August 9th, 2016, the next day he claimed Obama was the founder of ISIS. It worked like a charm, the second amendment comment fell to the wayside. Same as yesterday when he had Spicer do the select media thing. The big previous story was that Reince Priebus, asked the FBI to try to kill stories about the fact that there were communications between campaign aides and high level Russian officials. It was a brilliant distraction. I think the media should sharpen up to Trump’s distractions…
A long time ago they did.
It’s been 30 some years since the laws were changed.
My understanding is that one of the founders of Garmin was an immigrant from Taiwan. I too am surprised that they are so quiet on this. I suppose it must be because they are now owned by a Swiss company and the Swiss have a tradition of neutrality. They may want to stay neutral out of fear of offending the Preshitident Trump.
Remember we now have a vile groper, grabber and sexual predator occupying the highest office in the land, one who announced his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists.
They do but they also have to be pretty careful about how they get involved and what they say, since whatever they say will be scrutinized minutely by employees, stockholders, and the general public. When Trump came out with his EO a few weeks ago, the CEO of the company I work for put out a statement a day and a half later. Internally, he told us that he was working on the statement and he asked us for patience. It sounds like that is what Garmin is doing.
On Friday, Garmin tried to comfort grieving employees at a closed-door vigil inside the auditorium on its campus in Olathe, Kansas. Kuchibhotla’s widow, Sunayana Dumala, addressed the group of about 200 workers that included Madasani, who was released from the hospital Thursday.
Great. Drunk, lethally violent vigilante immigration patrol of one. Yes Pressman Spicey the president can say something strong like: Do not take enforcement into your own hands. Do not detain, Do not restrain, and most of all do not kill. He could do a whole lot more - that he is unlikely to do - like stop this vilification and the use of abusively hyperbolic aggressive language of fear that encourages people to act on their own because of FEAR. But he’s never going to do that - it plays to well to his base and he (and the whole administration) is/are dangerously and at times lethally irresponsible. But at the least he could broadcast that citizens should NOT act out some form of vigilante violence.
Hoping the company will help the family with burial expenses.
It’s open season on immigrants or anyone suspected of being one. No doubt that someone will introduce a stand-your-ground type law that white people can rely on whenever they gun down the Other in the street out of righteous fear and loathing.
