It seems to me that pretty much all of the top-tier candidates (or candidates to be candidates) are feeling forced into keeping their name in the news in the next week or two, even if they’re ostensibly deferring the question.
I’m (of course) interested to see who else speaks up this month. To some extent, there’s a first-mover factor that has to be taken into consideration… I think primary voters’ first preferences will start to gel fairly quickly, if they haven’t already.
But what do I know, I’m no political scientist.
“With the release of her memoir and a schedule jam-packed with media appearances over the coming weeks, the subtlety is wearing thin.”
Maybe if the “media” weren’t such an eager enabler – breathlessly flogging and prematurely hyping 2020 in the midst of a government shutdown and virtual Constitutional crisis – it might not be “wearing thin” for them.
Just a thought.
Cuomala Harris?
It’s not just about the primary voters: early candidates can scoop up the best organizers, office space, and media spots - especially in the early states. Warren has already hired the top organizers from Bernie and Obama’s campaigns (at least in Iowa).
Thanks for the cliffhanger, there, Kamala. Please say Yes.
Harris duped the show’s co-hosts…
How hard is that to do?
This is stupid.
“But we need our dramatic fix!”
God, the press are a bunch of addicts
Well she is not gaining any supporters dinking around like this. I’ve seen Trump and other outsized egos and have no need of them.
Stop playing games, Kamala. You’re starting to piss people off.
Hey, as long as you are not ready to talk about running, how about clearing things up about Larry Wallace? When did you find out about the 400K settlement? And, if you REALLY didn’t know about all this until the press asked, why not? Who got canned for not keeping you in the loop?
Right? It’s not like there is nothing going on in the here and now.
I think the fact that only 12 people have bothered to comment on this is not a good sign. When there is a group of the faithful gathered and waiting, even breadcrumbs tossed along the trail are signs to be anxiously interpreted.
I guess not too many of us are breathless in terms of Kamala.
And just because numbers speak, the piece on Beto O’Rourke’s failure to announce is currently running at 76 comments.
Follows my trajectory. I was all in for Kamala until Beto happened and now it’s Beto Beto Beto!
By the way, Tena, if you haven’t seen Roma yet, I think you’d love it. Heartbreaking and joyous and just beautifully done. Very reminiscent of Amarcord, and there’s a slight touch of Cinema Paradiso as well. Two films I love with all my heart.
We’re dying to see it. Thanks for the recommendation.
Love Cinema Paradiso. We saw it right after it won the Academy Award and liked it. Then we watched it again a few years ago after we’d been to Italy and realized how very much we had missed the first time. We loved it the 2d time - we picked up on so much. My favorite thing is the guy calling the film distributor when the film is late and saying: “I am from Naples and you WILL die,” which is a play on words on a famous saying about Naples that I didn’t know about until I had been to Naples. hahahaha It used to be said, when Naples was the richest city in Europe and the center of learning for Europe: “See Naples and die,” meaning you’d seen it all when you’d seen Naples.
I can’t even think about Cinema Paradiso without beginning to cry. I love it all, but the very end, when he gets the reel of the kissing and plays it is simply gorgeous.
Morricone’s score doesn’t hurt either.
I always thought see Naples and die made sense. The vista, looking down to the sea is breathtaking. One of the things I loved about 7 Beauties was how much love is in the shots of Naples.
O I love Naples and I love it that you do. Lots of people don’t. I think it is a magic place.
I think it’s magic too, especially the food!
