“And I’m very excited about it.”
I am too.
Most electable woman Dem yet announced.
Waiting for Klobuchar.
She would excite me too!
I selfishly don’t want to lose her as a senator
Looking forward to her announcement as well.
I like Harris, Klobuchar and Brown.
I’m interested to see how they do as announced candidates under the pressures that brings.
Great senators don’t always make great Presidential candidates.
Ability to navigate a candidacy for president is a big tell on how they will handle the job.
Arguably being a senator is more about policy than being president. The job of the presidency is more about politics than policy.
We can never again argue superior platform and policies mean shit in a Presidential election. Ability to connect is much more important to being elected.
Also, now that comments are working, I’m interested to see the difference compared to the comment after Gillibrand announced.
I think those of us not excited by Gillibrand will feel comforted that Harris will likely at least knock her off early.
I’m a lot less excited than she is. Not surprising there. But I’m a lot more interested in Warren and Klobuchar. If there’s much in her background to show that she would be the best Democrat as president, I haven’t seen it. And I’m not convinced that she’s particularly electable.
I’m very excited, too. You were my first choice and I’m really coming back around. I think you have what it takes to make it happen.
Go Kamala!
I like her. And she definitely has presidential teeth.
Me too. I just need to see how she does on the debate stage. One of the things that will be the big tell in such a crowded field is a particular candidate’s ability to command the spotlight and drop memorable sound bites that will get media play the day after. Assuming PP is the nominee, the ability to grab and hold the media’s attention will be a big factor in who we nominate.
Yeah I agree. I think she’s a natural standout (with, as @ralph_vonholst noted: Presidential teeth;) and if she is, that will get her that attention which will build on itself.
I really cannot imagine that we’ll be running against the Monster, but who knows? I didn’t think he’d make it this far.
Running for president is about politics, true.
BEING president is about executive skills and politics.
Senators get media face time, but these days don’t really do much given Putin’s Prank.
I believe a governorship is better training for the POTUS gig.
ETA John Hickenlooper, Steve Bullock.
Sadly this beats out policy and agenda. So while I might like EW best, I think Harris, Brown and Klobuchar are better messengers
Good bark to go with good bite.
I’d reverse the priority order here, but otherwise fair point.
Senators have more time to exercise the politics part and can make better claims regarding foreign policy experience (depending on committee placements I concede)
Governor experience is good, but not all governorships are created equal.
(ETA)…Would make fine VP candidates
Hickenlooper and Bullock are the ones I find most interesting. Western.
VEEP will, indeed, be a key factor.
And if either want to be considered I’d like them to get into the primary and show their chops on the National stage.
…and get name recognition up.
