I believe both will be in the mix.
âMy entire career has been focused on keeping people safe."
And homeless.
Yeah, nothing would surprise me on that front.
Donât get me wrong, itâs unfortunate, but itâs the reality of the situation. In 2016, the media gave PP all the exposure he couldâve possibly wanted. It SHOULD have hurt him, but it didnât. It hurt Clinton and left people saying things like, âI never heard her talk about X issueâ despite the fact that sheâd talked about it numerous times.
Does this mean we will get a straight answer about why she kept Larry Wallace on for nearly two years after the California DOJ got sued for harassment because of his behavior?
Maybe I am not up to date on everything but all I have heard was that she didnât know about it. I donât know if that is true or not, or whether itâs worse if she didnât. So far it doesnât look like anybody got fired for not telling her about it when she hired him for her Senate staff about the time California settled for 400K.
She better have a path to 270 that doesnât run through Minnesota.
I love Sherrod to bits, but please, please, let him decide not to run: the 2020 Senate mapâs decent but far from a sure thing, and the way Ohioâs trending I suspect we couldnât keep that seat without him. And Iâve been more skeptical of Hickenlooper since he flirted with a No-Labels run with Kasich.
At this early stage, I love Harris, like Klobuchar, and wish Warren were ten years youngerâŚbut Iâm ecstatic that weâve got serious women in the top tier, all of whom IMO are smart, personable, and capable of throwing a solid punch with a smile. This should be fun.
This is exactly why I wonât wonât support him in the primary if he does decide to run, and I hope he wonât. Had Cordray won the governorship, it would be a completely different story, but he didnât. As much as I adore Sherrod, we just need him in the Senate a lot more than running for president.
That was my take-away from 2016 too. We need to nominate someone new and shiny with whom the political press can fall in love. If we nominate someone they believe they know, they will move straight to the âtear âem downâ phase of the âbuild âem up and tear âem downâ narrative arc.
Exacta mundo! - Ohioâs gone cuckoo for Orange-Puff(the Vile President) and racist Repugnuts-
Brown has ridden the Blue-Collar sensibilities past its primeâŚthat zeitgeist is so 2016!
Harris on the other hand, knows how to reconfigure the Obama Coalitions; a chunky portion of African American women(sheâs a Howard University alumni); AOC inspired millennials and educated White Professionals(Polls are showing the last 2 sub-groups are trending her way)
California primaryâs moved up! So she can afford to loose Iowa & NH to Elizabeth Warren and still catch a big wave, later in MarchâŚWatch that Woman!
Woman of color, I can already see the bites MAGA-nation is going to use with her.
Kamala Harris is the ONLY Dem who is running or who might run for president who I can see on a global stage going up against Putin or MBS. They would be intimidated by her, which I think is important.
I think MANY of the candidates are great. They would be wonderful domestically in different ways.
But the world we live in now is so very different than it was before 2016 & we need a different leader. And we need someone who will be strong domestically and able to be TOUGH internationally.
They also must be internet savvy or knowledgeable. And able to deal w/ cyberwar & also our giant tech companies & the threats that they all potentially pose to us. (whether intentionally or not). Our next president will have to juggle rebuilding our country, assessing who our intâl allies & enemies are and how to deal w/ eachâŚrepairing or shifting relationships to fit the realities.
I donât that Biden (who is great) has adapted to this new reality. Truly.
I have an open mind at this pointâŚthey ALL have to be vetted. Neither Trump nor Bernie were vetted last timeâŚb/c everyone believed the conventional wisdom that Hillary would win (which she actually did)âŚ
And letâs dump the horse race way of looking at thisâŚitâs bad for making good decisions.
A lot will happen in the next 3 months âŚso who knows? Castro, Klobuchar, WarrenâŚsome of the ones ppl have mentioned I didnât even know were thinking of runningâŚand I think itâs great.
The woman from Hawaii seems like a troll. Itâs fine w/ me if Bernie runs but he wonât be the candidate & Iâd rather have him help turn out his ppl than turn them away like the last time.
We just need a 21st century candidate, not someone stuck in pre-2016 modeâŚreally. Weâre never going back there. I love Brown but his spiel sounds very pre-2016âŚ
Beto should run for the other Senate seat. Gillum should challenge Rubio. And what are we doing about Maine and Kentucky senate races??? We have to start thinking about this now.
Totally fair, itâs a real consideration.
Might it also be fair to say we do less good in Ohio because we havenât had a solid union guy like Sherrod on the national stage?
A solid union guy could help with the displaced forner manufacturing workforce come back toward the party. Could help Ohio, PA, Michigan, Wisconsin.
Just a thought, is one seat lost worth it for investment. Not saying Iâm in this camp⌠just a thought exercise.
Discuss.
Harris has some magic about her. Donât ask me to quantify, but I just feel like there is something special about her at this time.
Youâll still get a Dem Senator though. A Senator from a swing state would be more risky.
Without knowing her entire career arc, she seems to have many of the intangibles. My impression is a smart, focused, and quite accomplished woman. If her skillset is perfect for the Senate, and doesnât translate to PresidentâŚI would wish her to stay put. Especially if it would be hard to get a Dem elected for her seat. But I doubt that is a problem and if she has the skills to handle the Presidency AND move the progressive ball forward I would gladly pull the lever.
Major bonus: I think she is just stunningly gorgeous. Very tele-photogenic. I donât want that to be a prerequisite part of âpresidentialâ but she doesnât have a bad side. She already looks like some ancient classic marble sculpture. Makes it easier to get on Mt Rushmore. Looks canât hurt.
Not sure why her gender is relevant. Sheâs the most electable candidate. Thatâs more important. There was so much fervor about Hillary being a female, the Demâs forgot she was not good candidate. Concentrate on the candidate, not the gender. I find Harris and then Klobuchar to be the most electable candidates at the time due toâŚwho they are. They are smart, engagingâŚthey talk TO you. Hillary always seemed to be talking AT you. Plus Harris and Klubochar have good energy without being overly theatrical. I find Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Corey Booker to be a little too theatrical, not good for a Dem candidate either. Harris and Klobuchar have the most important thing that those others do not have. Centrist appeal. That wins elections.
I doubt it. And it means nothing if we donât take back the Senate.
Awww, thatâs just that Black Girl Magic.
Comes off as genuine, competent, and serious. Shâs telegenic a good communicator.
She also the least easy of the bunch to caricature.
