Discussion: Judge Unseals Contempt Order For Roger Stone Aide Resisting Mueller Grand Jury Testimony
Roger, you should know by now that Mueller will leave no Stone un-turned to learn the truth of what you’ve done.
So how usual is it for an order like this to be stayed during appeal? IIRC there have been other cases where it wasn’t.
So, I guess Miller AND Trump are above the law.
Orders are often stayed when counsel indicate they plan to appeal. Judges often give attorneys a number of days in which to stay the order while appeal documents are prepared and filed.
I’d rather Miller go to jail for a few days to experience first hand a future without a grand jury chat. But, then again, what he has to say may land him in jail anyway and he’s just spinning out the days before it happens.
All of this information was publicly known last month. The unsealing just tells us that what Miller’s attorneys said last month is in the official record.
I would like to see Mueller not wait for the appeal by Miller to indict Stone. He has what he needs. Deliver the indictment and let’s get this ball rolling on prosecuting US associates that conspired with the Russians to undermine our election laws and anti-hacking laws. It’s time.
I’m concerned that we’re now within the traditional (as in “not what Comey did”) sixty-days-before-the-election window, and that significantly reduces the chances of any new indictments for the next couple of months. I suppose it depends on how many degrees of separation would be considered far enough apart that it doesn’t matter.
The 60 day thing is dead, if it ever was a thing. Comey killed it. And Trump is not running for election this fall.
Yes, yes, yes…but does Miller have a dog – and if so, where’s its profile piece?!
(Kidding, TPM! I kid! I’m a kidder!)
I doubt that it’s dead. Damaged, yes. A lot of dedicated folks inside the Bureau still take seriously this idea that investigations should not interfere with the election process, or risk the appearance of interference.
Its selective use discounts its virtue. And Trump isn’t running for office this fall. How wide should a 60 day window of delayed Justice be? Whom should it protect? A whole party?
Maybe the GOP candidates could think of a way to not be harmed by investigations of DJT and his campaign.
So this is why you were at the rally yelling about the “dumb hillbilly AG.” hahahahahaha
Here’s to hope that someone can put the heat to Rodger Stone’s stones. Perhaps one of the slimest tricksters of the GOP.
So you get to conspire to undermine democratic principles and then use vast personal and donated resources to avail yourself of every possible legal remedy and roadblock available under the very principles you undermined.
I sure hope we’re not inconveniencing Miller. Is there anything else the court can do? Warm blankey, Starbucks coffee, another tax break?
…new wardrobe?
(Ask Manafort about the great socks.)
Hey let’s all get Stone(d).
Apologies to Dylan.
Sickening.
We all know the alleged DOJ advisory regarding various actions close to an election don’t cite a specific time frame. And they rather loosely allude to parties having a close relationship to the casting of a ballot, i.e. a candidate for office. So indicting Stone right now is perfectly acceptable. Nevertheless, you know if Mueller does it every damn person to the right of Ben Sasse, on the entire continent, is going to scream bloody murder Mueller is illegally seeking to influence the midterms and flouting DOJ rules. Which will be wrong, except to most of the 63 million people that voted for Trump. So, still, a helluva lot of people.
