Discussion: Judge Blocks Trump Policy Of Returning Asylum Seekers To Mexico

We see the constant abuses of power, intentional breaking of law, subornation of perjury, obstruction of justice, rinse and repeat. This is crying out for impeachment. Impeach him and Trump is put on notice about the limits of law breaking. The public is provide great information and perspective on what we expect from a POTUS.

I dunno what are the legal aspects, but I sure love rulings that make trump mad.

Can we impeach advisors? At the very least, Steven Miller needs to go.

My understanding is there are well established laws -both US and International - governing those poor folk seeking asylum. It’s mind boggling this Administration is not only not following the law, but committing crimes against humanity in the process.

If he starts separating families again in defiance of judicial orders, what then? He’s badly decompensating.

Good. tRump will complain about the liberal judge in the liberal circuit, blah, blah, blah. Cry me a fucking river Donnie, but you are breaking Federal and International law by making asylum seekers return to another country.

I know Mitch is doing his best to pack the courts (words he used when Obama was trying to fill vacancies), but you are due an ass-kicking on this issue.

At least the legal system is continuing to function and make (mostly) correct decisions based in the law. It seems like we’re getting near a point where the president will try to ignore the judges and make them enforce a decision (a la Andrew Jackson). He said as much to Border Patrol officers, as reported elsewhere…the leadership told the officers not to do what Trump said. The question is what happens when the leadership gets replaced with people who will gladly go along with Trump, and then ignore court orders…when we reach that lawless point is when all hell will break loose. It really depends on whether government workers continue to follow the Constitution, laws, and their duties, or if they decide to follow Trump and his lawlessness. Time is only going to tell, but it seems like the issue is about to be shoved into the forefront.

What keeps coming back to me off and on every day…
Matis… Kelly… Where are you? How can you not come forward and blow this thing out of the water?
You know what’s happening. You know what Trump has done and said, behind closed doors.
What will it take for you to be fed up, to say “enough is enough, I can’t stomach the treason and destruction of our system anymore.”

Donald is trying to create chaos and mayhem. Why the hell not?

He can pretend to his heart’s desire. It won’t cost him a dime, since he’s raking in the dough nationally and internationally, not to mention the millions of dollars in tax breaks he gave himself this year…

Did you get more?

He can rub elbows with the wrestlers, and gun-toters, while occasionally deigning to benefit a small charity group…

with money he gets from others

Chaos is easy to do, just break every freaking norm. But best of all, he can satisfy the sadistic lusts of his group of close personal friends, while going after “them.”

You?

I sure hope not. Hope it isn’t me, either. But chaos is his objective.

I’m going to enjoy dinner tonight knowing these headlines are hopefully driving trump off the ledge in his mind.
Keep the pressure up till he implodes. which might not be that far down this dead end road.

Yeah, I agree, but what would be the point of going through impeachment proceedings in the House without some assurance that there will be considerable support for conviction in the Senate? The best we can do for now is to keep highlighting these things and try to build up support for opposition to the Administration’s flouting of the law, but right now there are probably more people who support ignoring the current immigration law where it concerns migration of “brown people” than there are those who are outraged about the way they are treated when they reach the border.

And even then, the danger of continuing to harp on impeachment is that it falls right into the very picture the GOP is trying to paint of Democrats, that they are only concerned with trying to remove Trump from office, and not about trying to make things better for the country.

I assume and hope that this will move immediately up the appeals court chain to SCOTUS. I have no idea if it is legal to force them to wait in Mexico, but it certainly sounds moral and reasonable to me. After all, Mexico is not exercising any kind of due diligence in allowing these illegals to cross. And I know that they are going to be faking asylum. If any librul DemoBorg drones would actually listen to the asylum fakers, they are very clear about it - they all know that it’s a big Potemkin village.

He;s thinking

Except they don’t mind. They’re both in the white Christian nationalist club. They view the destruction as unfortunate but necessary.

Invoking the impeachment proceedings to leverage investigative powers, e.g., demanding that grand jury proceedings be unsealed with respect to the Mueller report.

I wonder if there is some way for remotely parental control Fox off of all the WH TVs? That would surely bring us the grounds for declaring him non compos mentis.

My impression is that it is not, but IANAL.

In allowing them to cross into Mexico, or allowing them to cross into the US? I don’t see that it should be Mexico’s problem to keep them from crossing the US border. And who they let cross their own border is up to them, not up to us.

All in good time, if it proves necessary. As it is, we haven’t yet seen Mueller’s report.

Nope.

As to the rest of your nonsense, GFY. You’re precisely the type that needs to be sent to Honduras without a cent to your name to live there and try to survive for, let’s say, 5 years. Make sure you have your affairs in order before you leave and that your last wishes are made clear.
