Discussion: Judge Agrees To Release Coast Guard Officer Accused Of Plotting Terror Attack

Soooo, - the grand jury decided (based upon who knows what) that what this guy was planning doesn’t qualify as “terrorism” because White.

Perhaps someone should show them the pic that’s above this article.

ETA: And where the f*ck did this insane bastard get the money to buy all those killing machines? I mean, they can’t run cheap no matter how much of a - patriot - you are.

He’ll probably kill his wife as soon as he’s released. The article says her “jaw dropped,” upon hearing he’d be released. That wasn’t a good ‘jaw drop’, that was an “oh shit” jaw drop.

The prosecutors should have just pronounced is name as “Hassan” and he’d be rotting forever

I feel safe. Then again, I don’t live in the DC Metro area.

We moved from Baltimore to PA right before the time when the DC Sniper was shooting people (before the start of that school year). I can remember thinking we literally dodged a bullet.

Not necessarily. The grand jury decides whatever questions are put in front of it. My sense here…and maybe it’s from something I read previously, but I can’t point to it…is that the prosecutors didn’t even present the jury with the question of whether he should be indicted on what I think could be any number of variations of terrorism charges.

And you’ve clearly overlooked his otherwise blameless life.

It is really hard under current law to charge someone with domestic terrorism. There are people workng to change that; there was a story in the past year about the legislation failing but I forget the details.

What’s the point of that? Harassing a judge for a decision he was required to make by the law and the prosecution’s failures? Totally inappropriate.

The three rifles in the back would be the most expensive single items, and it’s about a thousand, twelve hundred or so each for them. Probably about 10K more or less for the whole assortment package. Pretty doable for a middle-class obsessive. You can get very destructive guns for not much money.

It’s only terrorism when they threaten Wall Street.

Hasson’s wife’s… jaw dropped

Five will get you ten that he has been abusive toward his wife.

ETA: Yes, you said it!

When I was in the Army in Vietnam and stationed with the Navy a sailor was on the radio talking to a ship about a mile offshore. Forgetting, or not knowing, who he was talking to he says, “What the fuck, over” and we all just cracked up laughing. It still brings a smile to my face.

Haven’t I always heard that grand juries are heavily guided by the prosecutor running the show?

ETA: And where the f*ck did this insane bastard get the money to buy all those killing machines?

I ask that every time I hear about one of these ammosexuals!

Exactly. And is the NRA helping him with money for his bail bond?

And what’s gonna happen if he commits some type of heinous act while he’s out?

It will be explained away as just another joke…

Gee, I wonder if he would’ve been released if his last name was al-Hasson instead of just Hasson?

I doubt it. Ever since the ruble flow stopped they’ve been having trouble paying for the office coffee.
