Discussion: Jon Stewart: Trump Is A 'Man-Baby' With A Baby's 'Temperament And Hands'

You want to have a beer with her! : )

Yeah, I’ve never really understood the need to point out that a human being is imperfect. I’ve always assumed that’s a given. I find it almost as asinine as having to say, ā€œI don’t agree with X on everythingā€¦ā€ Well, no shit!

And yet, without that 2002 AUMF, inspectors never would have been put into Iraq, and Bush would likely have invaded anyone under the 2001 AUMF which Sanders voted for BTW which Bush was saying is all he really needed to invade Iraq if he felt was a threat to our national security and ā€œconnected to 9/11ā€ which Cheney et al were peddling as well.

Thanks for demonstrating your binary shallow thought process which can lead to ignorant demagoguery.

I’m talking about a very specific media narrative about whether she’s ā€œgenuineā€ that you are conflating with broader and different criticisms of you, your chosen candidate, and your beliefs. You may well agree with that particular media narrative, but I’m not the customer service department for generic Sanders supporter complaints.

And personally I’ve always thought the politicians’ job was to negotiate and balance the various claims different constituencies had and find a modus vivendi. When you do it right, nobody’s completely happy, but life goes on more or less calmly.

I don’t characterize it like that, particularly when you are running to be president of 300 million people, not 20 who meet every Friday afternoon for tea.

Wow. You’re crankier today than normal.

Nope. The normal level of ā€œcrankyā€ at commentary that earns it.

Of course—it’s the Internet and we’re all perfect. Yay! : )

Well, except for those I disagree with. They are Hitler.

Including the most important thing (to me), which is that I have 100% confidence that Clinton will nominate principled progressives to SCOTUS, finally beginning to unwind the Rehnquist-Roberts devolution we’ve suffered for a generation.

The new meme:

Trump Is A ā€˜Man-Baby’ With A Baby’s 'Temperament And Hands’

Trump going off on Stewart in 3…2…1

Exactly, we can argue whether or not she or any candidate is sincere, even though she actually has a voting record that backs up most of what she says she believes, but pretending she’s somehow failed to tell us is just a massive load of bullshit. It’s the kind of Beltway wisdom, bullshit Chris Matthews often gets off into that makes me want to slap him with my handbag. There are plenty of fair knocks on Clinton, that’s just not one of them.

Also, Stewart ā€œimagines her to be a very bright womanā€. Just stop it. SMDH

I intensely dislike this idea that, in the face of vicious attacks from Sanders supporters and a media eager to criticize Clinton in the hope of getting a real horse race, it’s somehow the responsibility of Clinton supporters to turn the other cheek or ā€œadmitā€ that they don’t really like her. No other candidate’s supporters would be expected to kneecap themselves like this.

Is it that she is a proponent of projecting American Power in the world, or that she recognizes that inherent in America’s existence, especially given its many strengths, including financial, moral, and even political stability (although I know the last has seemed to be shaky at times, nevertheless, over time we have been remarkably stable, politically, compared to the vast majority of nations), is the fact that people around the world almost always want to know what our position, and/or role, is going to be regarding just about any issue that arises on the world or even regional stages.

That means that it is incumbent upon us to take thoughtful, forward looking positions even on issues where we may not appear to have a dog in the fight.

That may look to some as if we’re meddling where we don’t belong, but to many of us it means being a responsible world citizen.

I just don’t see HRC as waffling or pandering. She’s laid everything out so precisely that I guess you missed it, Jon!

That’s one of the things I never trusted about Stewart–he tries for ā€œbalanceā€ just like the rest of the media. I finally quite watching him when he made a really nasty montage of Obama saying ā€œErrā€¦ā€ as he was answering questions or delivering speeches, just to make the very eloquent Obama look the fool.

actually I’m not a Sanders supporter.

who’d you say was fictionalizing things?

other people are allowed to have their opinions, too. you don’t need to have so much contempt for people who don’t agree with you on everything.

What on earth is wrong with WONKY, when you need someone who’s knowledgeable??

Well you just respond to her high level of insight with ā€œI don’t trust her judgmentā€ā€¦the opposition to her has the very bad aroma of deep misogyny.

it’s just that Clinton supporters so often have this accusatory stance - if you’re not ā€œwith herā€ then something is wrong with you. I personally don’t like to be chastised into my political views. It’s a real turn off.
