Twee? WTF is âtweeâ?
I guess they had it coming.
somewhere between two and three.
Will he pick on the many states which didnât even try to help its citizens? Georgia is a great one to start with. No expanded Medicaid but we can carry guns into bars. Now how are those poor suckers supposed to pay for gun shot removal without state aid?
Actual answer:
twee |twÄ| adjective Brit. chiefly derogatory
excessively or affectedly quaint, pretty, or sentimental: although the filmâs a bit twee, itâs watchable.
ORIGIN early 20th cent.: representing a childâs pronunciation of sweet .
Me and my Johns (Jon)âŚI love all three, hubby âJohnâ, "Jon S.â and NOW âJohn Lâ. Funny Guy.
Its been used for that saccharine brand of indie lo-fi hipster music associated with beards and knitting way before beards and knitting were mainstream.
Thatâs a lot of money for failure. Must be a good story there about another government contractor with connections, getting paid in spite of performance results.
Iâm an Oregonian (native) who is signed up through Cover Oregon for health coverage. When the Cover Oregon ads first came on TV, they made no sense - just some gal or guy playing guitar and singing in front of places around the state. Truly annoying. Once we figured out they were for health coverage, we went to the website for info and âŚnothing. There was nothing on the website except the TV ads! Even more annoying. To keep my story short, we found a very good local agent who helped us navigate getting signed up, which we had to do through the mail. Now, nearly five months later, we are finally getting our proper health cards. Yes, it is good the Feds are stepping in on this one, thatâs a lot of my tax dollars that went to crappy advertising and maddeningly slow service.
He might, or he might not, but that wasnât the point of this comedy piece. Should he cover only those stories you approve of and ignore others? I donât understand this idea that because other horribles exist in the world, this piece shouldnât exist. Itâs particularly about the Oregonâs failed and wasteful approach at not delivering healthcare: they couldnât build a functioning site that allowed citizens to sign up for healthcare AND they thought it was a good idea to advertise something that didnât work in the first place.
Canât argue with Oliver on this one. Oracle Corporation was incompetent and their shortcomings should have been apparent very early in development. The lack of oversight by the state enabled a huge waste of money and consumer frustrations.
Failures like the one here in Oregon make the case for a Federal plan. Single Payer, in due time.
This is hilarious. The sociopathic policies of the GOP wingnuts in charge of the red states doesnât excuse the manifest failures in Oregon of earnest and well-meaning progressives to do the fucking job right, which includes oversight and management. If the people in Kentucky can put together a functioning website, then thereâs no excuse for failure elsewhere.
Oh, it was Oracle. Of course it was fucking Oracle.
Thatâs just what I was going to say. If we can do it right, with the state senate looking over the governorâs shoulder and hoping to pounce on an un-dotted âiâ, thereâs just no dang excuse for Oregon.
The word âtweeâ is a bit twee itself, donât you think?
Oh, hey â itâs not just Oregon, and not just ACA web sites. The state of Virginia has put out $300 million makeover of US 460, and not a single spade of earth has yet been turned and not a single environmental permit has been obtained. This was a project pushed heavily by Bob McDonnell, the previous governor, in spite of warnings that it was a very risky undertaking. The incoming governor, Terry McAuliffe, put the brakes on it in March in order to re-assess the whole thing.
It could cost Virginia taxpayers $400 to $500 million dollars even if the road is never built.
âTweeâ is British slang for a type of singing/song that is sweet, almost to the point of being sickeningly so. As a derogatory descriptive, it means something that is affectedly dainty or quaint, or is way too sentimental.
In American English it often refers to a type of simple sweet pop music, but in British English it is used much more widely for things that are nauseatingly cute or precious. It comes from the way the word sweet sounds when said in baby talk.
Twee : excessively or affectedly quaint, pretty, or sentimental:
A very âtweeâ song by Donovan Leitch
Little pebble upon the sand
Now youâre lying here in my hand
How many years
Have you been here?
Little human upon the sand
From where Iâm lying
Here in your hand
You to me are but a passing breeze
Happiness runs in a circular motion
Thought is like a little boat upon the sea
Everybody is a part of everything anyway
You can have everything if you let yourself be
Happiness runs, happiness runs
Happiness runs, happiness runs
Happiness runs, happiness runs
Happiness runs, happiness runs
