Discussion: Jeff Flake Will Support Brett Kavanaugh

“What I do know is that our system of justice affords a presumption of innocence to the accused, absent corroborating evidence,” Flake said.

Direct first-person testimony IS EVIDENCE!

The GOP is ready to die on this hill and take us ALL down with them. Despicable.

Oh my. How completely unexpected.

Collins going to stretch out her “maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe” for another couple hours?

Holy fuck, yes. We have for at least 8 years, and probably more like 20-30.

But hey, if the Democrats were to compromise just a little bit more, well then then GOTPers will be all reasonable and be interested in governance again.

Collins: ME TOO
Murkowski: ME TOO

Not fooling me . I always knew Flake was going to vote with the majority. Same for Collins and Manchin and the rest of the red state democrats.

"absent corroborating evidence" that Grassley/McConnell deliberately kept away from the hearing.

Flake proves to be the perfect jerk (once again) in a National Circle Jerk. In spite of hand-wringing and brow-furrowing and some words spoken against Trump’s “style,” his predictable action to support political partisan hack and serial liar Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court proves he accepts and endorses the moral depravity of the Trump Administration. He is a loyal soldier in the Trump Army that is ruining our institutions of good government and rule of law.

I’ve said it before. The man is a coward. He’d rather run from a problem than face it. So much for these Republican “Heroes” Flake, Lindsey Gramcracker and all the rest of these wind-up toys who’ll run their mouths whining about president Frankenputz, and then line up like good little zombies to vote to back him up, just like their real masters tell them to vote.

Too bad Senator Flake refuses to acknowledge that this nomination process is not a criminal proceeding. The presumption of innocence does not attach to the nominee in this situation. This is a job interview for elevation to a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land so you would think where there is as much doubt as there is certainty you would maybe hold out for a nominee who is free from these unexplored doubts about his basic character and honesty. In the end, no matter what the truth of the accusers allegation are, Brett Kavanaugh has proven himself through out his entire life to be a liar willing to say anything that achieves his ends without regard to the truth or the damage inflicted upon others. Thanks to Senator Flakes spineless actions it looks like the country is going to be subjected to consequences of a liar on the court that more likely than not is a serial sexual assaulter.

The thing the GOP are doing here and what many in the conservative movement handle these things is sickening. This is not a court, you do not need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt anything.

That is usually the standard that they pretend exists for all of these things. In reality, before the court thing even happens there is a charge. Usually an arrest or separation, an investigation and then evidence is presented. All of that is ignored in these, it falls on apparently random people, who would be doubted anyway, to bring all of this up.

This is a job interview. If any boss in the country was told the guy they were interviewing sexually assauly multiple women. Not sure they would wait for all the evidence to turn the guy away.

So once he votes to have a full senate vote I wonder how he’ll vote in that one?

So is this the part where Republicans lack of morals, double standards and their nihilistic desire to win, gives them the exact tools needed to beats the Dems long term yet again. Oh yea, it’s that part. The only thing sadder than this broken record is that GOP voters DO NOT CARE about any of this and will all pull that lever for the “R” in the end too and the Dems seem to have no plan to beat them or the constant right wing propaganda that’s facilitating this.

Leahy giving the judiciary Committee the guilt trip of a lifetime. My French-Canadian, Catholic Memere would be proud.

Blood in the streets. I’m at that point. See, I have no doubt of certain things and that scares the shit out of me, because I’ve been right about a lot of this while everyone else ran around pretending that our systems and elections and what-not would still function to save us. And now my predictions are getting worse…and they’ll garner more “you’re crazy…calm down…everything will be ok…people just need to vote…our gov’t is self-correcting blah blah blah stop dealing in hyperbole and being a demagogue yadda yadda.” BULLSHIT. PAY ATTENTION. THERE IS LITERALLY NOTHIGN THEY WILL NOT DO…LITERALLY NOTHING.

For example, if a Dem takes a red seat from the Senate and gives us control this year in a state controlled by a GOP governor, Sec. of State and/or state legislature, I have no doubt the game will be to tie him up in court forever and I strongly suspect at this point that the game may even be to fucking kill him to get that sweet sweet GOP governor appointment of a GOP lapdog to hand back control over the Senate. After all, we haven’t had a good assassination in a while, so maybe the country could stand the shock. After all, we blindly go about our business after 25+ children are slaughtered in a kindergarten. So who cares if some SUPPOSEDLY lone, deranged extremist shoots some liberal who just won an election and gets replaced by a GOPer, shifting the Senate back? We’ll survive, right? The system is self-correcting, right? It just couldn’t be that somehow they’d have done something like that…unfathomable…unthinkable…couldn’t possibly be the case. We’ll get 'em next time, right?

This is war. People don’t seem to fucking understand it because it’s a slow-moving cold war, but it IS was nonetheless. The GOP and its white Christian nationalist base consider it absolute, all-out war…not declared by us, but upon us, and if we don’t start acting like that’s the truth, we will most certainly be further subjugated and oppressed to allow the white Christian nationalist racist, sexist, angry, fearful, bigoted, white supremacist, entitled, privileged, assholes who think this country belongs solely to them to perpetuate a minority-rules hegemony at all costs, with nothing off limits, no holds barred, even if it takes the wholesale destruction of the Constitution and systemic, incremental abrogation of our rights. Over and over and over again while we sit back and rationalize.

Fuck, I wouldn’t even be surprised if they simply refuse to administer oaths of office to certain winners after the mid-terms. And you can fucking guarantee that the oligarchy will start messing with their control over the trajectory of the economy in order to create an argument that the mere election of Dems/liberals and handing them control over one or more chambers of congress is ALL BY ITSELF enough to destroy the economy. I’ve been yammering it for a decade in my postings: the election of a black man as POTUS was the final straw for them and they went Defcon 5. There is LITERALLY nothing, NOTHING, that they will not do, that they will not destroy, that they will not murder, pillage, rape or torment, no lie they will not tell, no person they will not step on, attack or ruin, in order to establish their power, dominance and control over ALL of us PERMANENTLY. What more evidence do people need at this point? Is nobody paying any fucking attention?

The country is OVER. It is time to accept that and react accordingly. The mid-terms WILL NOT SAVE US. Wrap your heads around it. You want a country at all that you can call home, in which you feel safe, secure, successful, prosperous, proud, one that even remotely resembles everything you thought this shambling cadaver we reside in was all along? Blood in the streets.

Hello America! Anyone who doubted Flake would pull this again ,speak in tongues then do the wrong thing has not been witnessing the antics in Congress the last several years. They have taken cowardice to a previously unknown level.

Time to end it all then? You first.

Agreed. It’s time to step into the gutter with our knives and fight for our lives. But, the weakened, sissified Democratic party seems ot have lost it’s will to actually…fight. This is how fascism happens.
