Discussion for article #236281
Of course Jeb is skipping Iowa…the Straw Poll has a really poor track record and is pretty useless. Plus, why pander to the grass roots when he is busy getting a green shower from his backers?
He has more important things to do, like plan a re-invasion of Iraq.
This does not bode well for the Bushes.
However, the Bushes are Republican royalty. Jebbya Bush should be anointed for this reason alone and not be made to contest elections.
Not much advantage provided by winning the Iowa Straw Poll, unless you think that your constituency is the nuttiest nuts in the whole nut jar. This may be the only smart move that Jeb has made so far. Hopefully, the end result will still have him back in Miami licking his rejection wounds from the American voters.
Carson or Huckabee will most likely win the straw poll. Crazier the better! Jeb doesn’t want to be “embarrassed” by a poor Iowa showing.
I think he is hoping that his father will die at a time that will benefit him with the sheep. I know that sounds terrible, but the Bushes are terrible. So no apologies.
My guess is Bush will try something similar to what McCain did in 2008, publicly downplay an attempt to be competitive in the state, but make a harder push as the date gets closer. And unlike McCain he’ll have plenty of money to keep an organization ready. Jeb isn’t going to skip Iowa, he’s just lowering expectations so as not to be humiliated with a 4th or even 5th place finish if the race remains crowded through then, but don’t think he isn’t going to try for better.
Smart move.
In 2008 Huckabee won and in 2012 Santorum won the Iowa caucus. The straw poll doesn’t matter either.
Bush can go strong in New Hampshire without the holy-war stink generated by the increasingly racist and always religious Iowa GOP. This helps him build on the (dishonest) Bush family meme of moderation.
A very smart move.
This is for both the straw poll and the caucus.
“STFU, peasants! I’m a legacy! It’s the same way we get into Ivy League schools.”
JEB’s strategy is the same as Romney’s…win NH and NV in the early primaries and afterward, slowly grind down his opponents by beating them over the head with money bags.
Kind of makes you wonder why he thinks he’ll get the money bags when Walker has so clearly demonstrated that he will do what he is told without any reservation whatsoever.
Damn. I guess we are all going to miss out on some great corn dog pics. Hopefully we will still get some more of that Santorum jam though.
I am tired of Iowa…why does one state get to the “decider?”
I applaud him for ignoring those religious nutters.
Yup, Jeb is merely strategerizing with this decision on the Iowa straw poll!
I wonder if Jebya will even be around for Iowa. The way he is self destructing, this could all be moot.
I see he is JUST as “Courageous” as his brother.
He doesn’t need anyone there anyway.
His Wall Street Cronies will “Make it rain” as much as he needs them to, whenever he needs them to so he can secure the nomination.
It is a “Battle of the Billionaires” in the Republican Party.
Wall Street Hedge-Fund/Bank Executives for Bush.
Fascist Billionaires for Walker.
Zionist/Casino Billionaire for whomever kisses his ring properly.
Ain’t American great?
And so far,Cruz and Rubio have done well at fundraising. No reports from Rand Paul. I have a feeling that Walker will win IA,Jeb will win NV and NH and someone else will win SC,just like what happened in 2012. But,JEB’s opponents won’t be tapped out at that point and and there will be at least 2-3 alpha males in the 2nd tier that aren’t gonna fold up tent and go home. Look at the tentative primary schedule too. Florida has been moved. Look at the Super Tuesday states. Jeb’s path to the nomination is a lot tougher than Romney’s was.
Michele Bachmann won the 2011 Iowa Straw Poll. LOL!
Iowa, Jeb just isn’t that into you…
