Discussion for article #240618
All right, Jeb, you’ve covered your ass.
One of the many great things about Twitter is that quite a bit of the DC press corps caught that line and were pretty blown away by the insensitivity and ridiculousness of claiming such a thing when the anniversary of 9/11 was less than a week ago.
Yeah! The Drunken Frat Boy kept all of us safe…well, except for those 3,000+ folks who were murdered in the Towers or those 50,000+ troops whose lives he threw away in the wrong country for nothing,
'Kept Us Safe'
Not from his own buffoonery —
I get so sick of that idea W “kept us safe”. Like Hell, the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history happened on his watch; he did not “keep us safe”, he botched the hand-off from the Clinton administration who tried very hard to warn him and get him up to speed fast, but W would not listen.
This was pretty much Twitter’s overwhelming response to Jeb!'s comments about W keeping us safe…
He kept us safe from those anthrax attacks too.
Oh and those people in New Orleans. He kept them real safe.
Heckuva job.
Your brother got lots of people killed for bogus reasons, you asshole.
Ladies and Gentlemen- We are all the way through the looking glass…
Gotta say it: we were safe while Al Gore’s team almost took office. We were almost safe when Richard Clarke tried to at least educate the new administration about the terrible threat.
But when W. set his priorities in January 2001, and they involved getting ready for fantasized trouble with Iraq, reducing the size of the military on some whim, and getting ready for some neo-Cold-War missile defense malarkey, and when W. declared that ***you had to pursue you own priorities or you had no prioritie***s, that meant that homeland security was not a priority and wouldn’t be emphasized. Clarke, a neutral technocrat with his fact-based concerns was made persona non grata. The Justice Department was allowed to focus on covering up the bare breasts on the entranceway’s statue.
That meant we weren’t safe. W. created that situation. Cheney was 100% complicit. They made us unsafe. Needlessly. They let 9/11 happen. And nothing can ever change that.
That disingenuous line would be amusing if it weren’t for the many mindless morons clapping. It really makes you want to cry for our country. Jeb’s going to keep us safe like his brother. Carly is going to run the country like HP, Huckabee is be going to run the US like one big church. Walker is going to improve the US economy just like he ruined Wisconsin’s. They’re all going to be like Reagan except on climate change, immigration, and unions.
Yeah…I know I was. And even worse, he then goes on to talk about his brother hugging the firefighters (in a staged photo op) among the rubble…
…of the Twin Towers that were destroyed on his watch AFTER receiving multiple warnings of just such an attack.
Not to even mention the thousands of Americans put in harms way in Iraq so he could one up his daddy.
Hi brother was the president on 9/11/2001. What is he talking about?
W. kept us safe. But other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?
Safe? You fucking asshole, the “war on terror” your brother started, the destruction of Iraq and Afghanistan and the destabilization of the region that came with it, is the DIRECT cause of shit like Fort Hood, or Boston, and many others.
Fuck you and fuck your warmongering family.
Selective memory. It’s actually fairly common among a certain demographic of Republicans, who insist Clinton was in office when the attack happened. How they reconcile that with Bush being the great leader immediately afterward, I’ll never understand.
I fear we are. The media has been prodding the nation for another war in the Middle East for well over a year now, and I think the GOP is now starting the process of redeeming W. and rewriting history on Iraq.
Its one of the frustrating things about GOP debates, is they can freely toss out lies without fear of any pushback.
I also found it quite ironic how they would bring out state’s rights and the 10th Amendment for something they supported, and in the next subject, act like they had never heard of it.
Why can’t they ever steal THIS for a campaign song?
