Discussion: Jeb Bush: Bill Clinton Made 'Mistake' In Approach To Osama Bin Laden

Discussion for article #241933

Really, Jeb!? How’d your brother do regarding bin Laden? And didn’t the rules change between the time Sudan supposedly offered bin Laden to Clinton and the time your brother finally was forced to acknowledge that it was bin Laden who was responsible for 9/11?

President Clinton told President Bush and warned him about Osama Bin Laden before he left office. President Bush ignored him and so did Secretary Rice. SOS Rice even got a memo that talked about terrorist planning an attack in the US. President Bush had 18 months to get ready and failed.

Someone should ask Jeb! about the extent of the relationship between the Bush family and the Bin Laden family.

That would be fun.

I’m not even sure how he thinks he’s going to win this… Keep going Jeb!.

The fuck?

SERIOUSLY??? This guy wants to blame Clinton for not getting bin Laden and not BUSH who was specifically given the heads up? The same BUSH that ignored the warnings?
And the same guy that STILL did not get him (after saying they would “dead or alive”) and then said he doesn’t think about him? The bin Laden that Pres. Obama went after, cleaning up another one of BUSH’s mess???

Bush did not “keep us safe” if we were attacked on his watch. And Jeb’s! fucking pathetic attempt to whitewash his brother’s history is disgusting.

Did someone mention the Carlyle Group and the House of Saud?

Excerpt from the dustcover of:
‘House of Bush, House of Saud: The Secret Relationship Between the World’s Two Most Powerful Dynasties’
(Craig Unger, 2004)

Newsbreaking and controversial – an award-winning investigative journalist uncovers the thirty-year relationship between the Bush family and the House of Saud and explains its impact on American foreign policy, business, and national security.

“House of Bush, House of Saud” begins with a politically explosive question: How is it that two days after 9/11, when U.S. air traffic was tightly restricted, 140 Saudis, many immediate kin to Osama Bin Laden, were permitted to leave the country without being questioned by U.S. intelligence? The answer lies in a hidden relationship that began in the1970s, when the oil-rich House of Saud began courting American politicians in a bid for military protection, influence, and investment opportunity.

With the Bush family, the Saudis hit a gusher – direct access to presidents Reagan, George H.W.Bush, and George W. Bush. To trace the amazing weave of Saud-Bush connections, Unger interviewed three former directors of the CIA, top Saudi and Israeli intelligence officials, and more than one hundred other sources. His access to major players is unparalleled and often exclusive – including executives at the Carlyle Group, the giant investment firm where the House of Bush and the House of Saud each has a major stake.

Unger’s book offers a political counter-narrative to official explanations; and sets 9/11, the two Gulf Wars, and the ongoing Middle East crisis in a new context: What really happened when America’s most powerful political family became seduced by its Saudi counterparts?

Mrs. Clinton deliberately allowed the embassy in Benghazi to bombed knowing for a fact her friend Chris Stevens and three others were there. Mr. Bush was completely caught off guard with 911, he did the right thing invading Iraq and of course kept America safe. Now impeach Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Every time Jeb opens his mouth he just pushes his foot further down. Even if Trump and Carson weren’t pulling in all the really crazy republican votes, he wouldn’t be getting any more of the semi-sane republicans or the crazy fucks. He is just not presidential material. Make me wonder how the hell he ever got elected Gov of FL. Did they use a puppet?

Republicans talk about “responsibility” a lot.

But whenever they do, it’s always somebody else’s.

Quick clue .

Bush: I’m truly not concerned about Osama bin Laden.

MediaMatters, August 1, 2014:
Hannity’s comments stand in stark contrast to his reaction in August 1998, when the Clinton administration responded to al Qaeda bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania by launching cruise missiles at the terrorist group’s camps in Afghanistan, “probably” missing Bin Laden himself “by a few hours.” Hannity responded at the time by criticizing Clinton, suggesting that the attack may have been an effort to distract the American people from the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Hannity repeatedly referenced “Wag The Dog,” a 1997 film in which presidential advisers fabricate a war in order to cover up a presidential sex scandal.

On his August 20, 1998 program – just hours after the strikes – Hannity repeatedly asked his guests if they “see a ‘Wag the Dog’ scenario here.” He went on to explain, “I do a radio show here in New York, and this story broke about 2:00, and I was on the air at 3:00, and every line was jammed and every person was saying the same thing, that in their minds, they’re thinking the scenario is ‘Wag the Dog,’ divert attention away from the crisis that is going on in Washington.”

Jeb is an idiot. He should just hang it up, he is not smart enough to get past his brothers destruction.

No attacks. Really? Oh, OK from 9/12 on. Really? Might want to go back and do some checking. Just sayin’.

And that half assed grin/smile he has makes him look as clueless as he is.

Came in here to make a similar observation. I really don’t think this is the conversation Jeb! wants to be having, but, by all means Jeb, please proceed.

I’m loving that Hannity is trying so hard to give Jeb! an opportunity to justify his bro’. The more Bush III talks about Bush II, 9/11 and bin Laden, the more certain he is to lose. Thanks, Sean!
