‘Actually, what takes place in Gaza is not “occupation,” since Israel
doesn’t occupy it. Israel has no legal authority in Gaza, Israel has no troops stationed in Gaza (you know, where Hamas has control).’
Actually, since Israeli troops guard a blockade around Gaza, monitoring anyone or anything going in or out at the sparse checkpoints along the border with Israel, most people would consider that control.

Or it could have said ‘Israeli bombing campaign kills 4 more children as justification for civilian slaughter wanes’’
So the US and Germany never had declarations of war against each other?
Do Israel and the Palestinians?
Most of the planet doesn’t give a shit how many sorties it takes Israel to kill all those people; they care about the fact that so many who support Israel don’t seem to care how many are killed, as long as none of them are Jewish.
This is not right; you don’t have to support Hamas to see this.

I base it on a thousand plus hamas rockets, Hamas charter which calls for Israel’s destruction, Hamas pledges to target Israelis, and so on.
But hey, if Hamas isn’t at war, then wouldn’t it be simple for it to stop launching rockets?
No, they control the borders; they have no control over what goes on inside. The security personnel in Gaza work for Hamas, not Israel. The laws that they enforce are Hamas laws, not Israeli laws. The school curriculum is a Hamas curriculum, not an Israeli curriculum (or even a UNRWA curriculum).
Saying that a blockade equals control, you might as well say that in WWII, Britain controlled the Netherlands, because even though Germany occupied and made the laws, Britain blockaded the coast.
You want to know about a Hamas declaration of war on Israel? Check out Hamas’ charter, articles 13, 15, and 33. Not only does Hamas declare that war is the only way to respond to Israel, but it rejects any peaceful resolution, and any resolution that results in less than the the total destruction of Israel.
Since Hamas is not a country, you can’t really have a declaration fo war, but I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but since WWII, wars have tended to often involve non-governmental militaries.
I’m not concerned with what “most of the world” thinks. I’m concerned about ultimately arriving at a two-state solution, and Hamas is a huge obstacle to that and a threat to Israelis.
If you want to discuss whether or not the current campaign is smart or tactically wise, or a tragedy, that’s fine. None of that makes it a war crime. And I can feel that it is tragic for children to die–and it is–without considering the military action that led to those deaths being a war crime.
For what it’s worth, however, I do like your screen name.
hey, seedeevee, if you think there should be a mass migration of people from the middle east to the United States, wouldn’t it make more sense to relocate homeless people in refugee camps, rather than kick people out of the homes they live in?
