Discussion: Iraqi President To Trump: 'Don't Overburden Iraq With Your Own Issues'

Breaking Off Topic but related GOOD NEWS!

Americans Relieved to Learn That Trump Spends Sixty Per Cent of Time Not Using Powers as President

Qais al-Khazali, head of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, or League of the Righteous, also suggested U.S. troops may eventually be driven out by force if they do not yield to the will of the Iraqi people.

Great news for your Righteousness too! Take a chill pill.

“We find these comments strange,” said Barham Salih

Welcome to our ongoing national nightmare/hangover, Mr. Salih! You seem to be fully up to speed.

Not sure why Barham Salih is spouting off, Donald Trump knows more about Iraq then he does.

As we don’t really have a Department of State anymore, can any fellow TMP’ers share what would have been the diplomatic norms, prior to Tillerson? I assume that the Iraqi leaders, including its president, would have worked through a public statement like this one, “ 'We spent a fortune on building this incredible base,” Trump said. ‘We might as well keep it.’" , with someone like Paul Bremer back in the day.

Are we just getting these Tweets from our allies (they are our ally, right?) because literally, no one is home at State and they are frustrated? I can’t think of one statement from Iraqi leaders that was not something like, “we continue to work with the US, blah, blah , blah” between 2004 and 2016.

RELATED: what does it say about me that I am now able to automatically process how Trump’s statement came to be? He ran this by “[his] Generals” and they reminded him that Iraq owns the base, so he was like, well, I think we should keep and then tweeted the thought in his brain. The stuff is so intuitive at this point it is like turning on a blinker when one wants to turn…

See…this is exactly like Churchill, right Newt? Except Churchill helped win World War II, leading to a new global order with Democratic Western Governments and Institutions taking charge, while Trump is determined to set it ablaze out of nihilistic pique.

Not based on today’s reporting.

Funny how the Iraqis don’t seem to trust Donnie. I’m sure it has nothing to do with his repeatedly stated belief that we should just “take the oil.”

Don’t quote me but everything I’ve ever read about high-end gummint planning and communications would be like any other sophisticated group—they’d look at options and then run their favored ones past everyone who could make an informed comment to avoid making HUGE AVOIDABLE ERRORS. You don’t just blather out what you feel like as if you’re the 500-pound gorilla and you do what you want. You’re aware of the delicate web of interests at play. We’ve thrown all that out the window.

For Donald Trump all the world is a nail…

I do take some comfort on this. Hopefully this will offer some pushback on Israel’s constant attempts to goad us into attacking Iran.

Once again, trump puts american lives in danger needlessly.

Also, points for really polite trolling. (And the price for keeping US forces at that base just went way up.)

A lot of truth to that title!

When he said we would just keep the base, I’m surprised he didn’t tell the Iraqis “hey - be thankful you get to keep the oil!” Or maybe he did - I can’t actually bear to watch or read too much at a time.

Republican presidents overburdening Iraq with their own issues is sort of a tradition around here.

Be very careful Mr. Salih, our poor excuse for a “president” may decide to launch 39 cruise missiles at an empty field near you.
