Discussion for article #235261

Good luck with that!!!

Hoosier hospitality has taken on a whole new meaning, thanks to Gov Pence and his bigoted cronies.

Many of us have already figured out that the “Midwestern values and hospitality” shtick is just that.

"Indiana announced Monday that it had hired a public relations firm to repair its image "

What I wouldn’t give to work on the “Our Governor is Just an Asshole” campaign.

Not sure Porter Novelli is what you need. Want to repair your image? Elect better people to run your state.

This better be the “Miracle Workers” PR firm. Otherwise they are throwing money down a rat hole.

Good thing they don’t have any budget issues, this would just make them worse I think…

I would think event organizers and people responsible for booking and planning large conventions would have to start thinking about holding their events in states where they can feel assured the state won’t enact some homophobic or racist law that forces them to consider moving the convention. I would think the same would go for the NCAA, NFL, and other sporting events. Is it really worth it to book your event in IN or AZ and now Louisiana and risk having it all screwed up, convention goers and exhibitors backing out? Wouldn’t it just be safer to hold them in safe (aka blue) states?

ETA: I’m cautiously optimistic that KY will elect another Democratic governor in Nov so that we can start poaching business from our neighbor states who have lost their ever loving minds.

Rebranding? Indiana was a brand, really? Here’s my catchphrase “There’s no I in Indiana!”

Dole out the tax dollars to deal with bad image caused by homophobic Republicans.

Agree 100%. I am going to push all the professional organizations I am involved in to stay away from Indiana in particular for the foreseeable future. Louisiana is getting too hateful, bigoted, religulous and extremist under Jindal.

You mean all that fulsome praise in the right-wing mediasphere isn’t good PR?

The fact that Republicans think flacks are a solution to problems caused by bad policy tells you all you need to know about them. Sadly, few understand the lesson.

And who’s paying for this? Tax payers, of course. So see? Republicans don’t actually care about budgets and fiscal responsibility. In the end, they’re happy to waste money, so long as it doesn’t go towards poor people. They love deficits but hate average Americans.

I thought Republicans hate throwing money at a problem.

I wonder how much this has cost the state already, before Porter.

So Taliban Mike is going to spend thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, to fix a problem that could have been avoided by simply telling his General Assembly to back off on the raging homophobia.

Why would Indiana need repairing Mr Pence? You want to go around using religion for a vote then be true to your fake issues after all fake issues are the reason the GOP wins anything.
