They should read from inspiring portions of books of worship, the Gospels of Jesus Christ, etc. Especially portions about Good Samaritans, brothers’ keeper, taking care of one’s own, etc. Not as snark, but to drive the point home.

This! This a thousand times – and in the faces of anyone who says, “There’s little or no differences between Hillary and …”

Come on out, carlos and Darcy. We know you’re reading.

The NRA has said they will be happy to meet with him, as they have endorsed him, but their position remains unchanged. Not even for watchlist or no-fly.

Watching ABC, because that’s who I watch, and no mention of apocalypse or the filibuster yet.

Is Bernie there, do you know? Does he plan to speak?

I know you jest but screw Ted Nugent. He is a part of the problem, bigger than most in fact.
The idea that someone on this list should be able to buy assault rifles is preposterous as is the whole gun nut culture. We don’t ask bank robbers their opinions on masks in public or drug addicts about used needles do we? Because it would be idiotic, just like talking to Ted Nugent about gun safety would be.

The crazed minority has too much leverage and but for a real effort by the rest of us, they persist despite their low numbers.

The pen is mightier than the bullet also. We have to deter, expose, educate and legislate.
DEEL, we have to DEEL because that’s our deal.

Last I heard, he was going back to Vermont to figure out how to get Hillary to address the issues he thinks are important in about the same, but more possible way that she does.

Yawn.

Don’t forget Nazi1988.

Yeah, meri. You’re a born actor, and there is plenty of material on the internet.

And comment numbers are important.

That action speaks for itself. Gun violence against innocent people, the chance to get these amendments passed, taking a strong stance against the vast majority of Republicans and smaller but still sickeningly solid number of Democrats who stand with the NRA and the gun manufacturers, making the strong statement that you stand for common sense … aren’t as important as forcing Hillary and the DNC to kneel down, kiss a ring and re-agree to many issues they’ve basically agreed to (sans the demands to the Super Delegates – which I don’t agree with anyway. I also don’t agree with continuing with and/or expanding caucuses and more open primaries, etc., as those don’t strengthen the concept of the party members democratically deciding their leaders). Thanks.

I couldn’t agree more.

Progressive?

Pathetic.

Plus the worst sense of timing imaginable. If Bernie had made his play after California, in return for his endorsement he might have managed to hold onto his relevance. But he got so fucking into himself that he wouldn’t do it and any gesture he makes now is fundamentally too late. He got his ass handed to him in the DC primary which was expected but still really looked bad for him and his relevance had already begun to shrink before DC. Now I feel like the party should tell him the truth - it’s too late for him to make a difference. He missed his moment.

And that is no surprise to me. I have always have thought he was too busy being sanctimonious and loud to pay attention to what was going on around him.

I just wish to express to Senator Sanders, should he or his people read these threads, that I would find it wonderful to have you take a few hours out of your current time to stand in solidarity with us Democrats on this issue. I thought you re-registered as a Democrat, sir. I think this particular stance is so easy, so very easy, to take. My understanding is the large majority of Vermonters support these law enforcement amendments. Why not make it very clear that you also stand with us?

If they operated as a democracy. They don’t operate as a democracy.

Listening to Senator Corey Booker. Man, I really like him.

ABC may be a bit distracted by another story that they probably aren’t dweling on. Sort of a short bit on the latest from Orlando?

I wil add that what happened, that someone in the FBI’s sight as having possible terrorist sympathies was allowed to legally buy a gun thanks to the NRA–something President Obama spoke about in that town hall meeting a little over a week ago–add to this response. This issue–that you can be on a no fly list but still fricking buy an AR-15–is something some Democrats have been speaking about for a while now. It really doesn’t matter, I think, that the perp in question wasn’t on a no-fly list, the circumstances around his being able to buy a gun after being investigated by the FBI juxtaposed with the number of people killed, the election season, and Trump meant the situation was finally right for this kind of response by Democrats.

Have to say, between the protest after the moment of silence and this, I haven’t been as proud of Democrats since Bork (and I was cough much younger then). That’s a long, long, long time.
