Some are blaming Reid for changing the rules (going nuclear) in order to get votes on a large backlog of stalled judicial appointments. If he had not, the number of seats Trump now has to fill would have been closer to 200 rather than 140.

They know one thingā¦power, and they will employ any and every tactic available in order to win it and keep itā¦from the Brooks Brothersā riots of the Gore/Bush election to blocking judicial nominations, to blocking Garland, to trying to block ANY success by Obama, to claiming Mr. Obama somehow LOST his right to a timely choice on Garland nearly a year before the election.
They pursue it with fervent zeal at the state level tooā¦gerrymandering, Voter IDs, ALEC, astroturfing, special sessions designed to suddenly take up legislation that would otherwise not survive the bright light of day like HB2 in NC and South Dakotaās recent legislative efforts to gut a reform package approved by the stateās voters.
These are not nice people and should not be treated as giving a sā¦t what you think. They are single minded in their pursuit of a selfish, mean spirited and often illegal agenda, and you do NOT fight them with reason.
You use the law and the courts and pray that they can be slowed or stopped before even that channel is cut off in the dark of night by a President and a Party that views judges as tools to consolidate power and not to preserve the Constitution.
But former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) changed the rules in 2014 so that presidential cabinet nominees now only need 51 votes to be confirmed by the Senate.
