Land o Lakes pulling their support has officially broken him further
yes
There is no culture war. Thatâs a trope like the caravan, take your guns away, religious freedom or economic anxiety. None of them are real issues. The GOP floods the zone with talk about them and susceptible, gullible folks listen then vote as they are told too. Rural is synonymous with provincial. Insular. Big Cities or Coastal Elites are pejoratives for more worldly and educated folks. They are terms of division. Us vs Them. No culture war. Just a lot of folks that donât get around much and therefore only know about whatâs in their back yard.
Take a look at this Iowianâs problem https://forums.talkingpointsmemo.com/t/my-wife-denied-right-to-vote-what-to-do/80076
Dems need a policy on rural internet service to hook these folks up to the wider world. Also Radio Free America!
We know what a racist, bigoted homophobe King is. What does it say about the people he speaks that hate around that you donât hear from them? They give tacit support because they donât want to be exposed themselves. But they believe it.
I quote the well known Weissmanâs Law âMen who are down on homosexuals in public have been down on homosexuals in private.â
Sounds like a closet gay to me.
WTF is wrong with this guy? A BETTER question is WTF is wrong with IOWA??? Get rid of this loon. Heâs not WORTH it.
It does in his district, apparently.
Depends on the definition of war. If ostracism, avoidance, lack of respect, disinterest, a dearth of concern, etc constitute a war then I think we have one. If I owned a business I wouldnât hire a loud and proud Trump supporter. I donât let them in my home. I wouldnât interact with them at the gym, or in the street, or anywhere else if circumstances permitted me not to. I choose doctors, dentists, tradesmen, anyone I need for a service with the thought in mind if I can somehow discern their political leanings without being an ass about it I will, and if they are a Trumper or a Republican I move on. They can be prone on the sidewalk, gasping for air, turning blue in the face, in the midst of a medical emergency, and if theyâre wearing a Trump shirt or otherwise are readily, indisputably identifiable as a Trumper Iâll keep moving. Just lay there and die. Please. And Iâm sure the other side feels the same, to a greater or lesser degree, about Democrats and liberals.
Is that a war?
Brilliant!
Steve King, embarrassing Iowa yet again.
And bacon⌠mmmâŚbacon!
Maybe I am old fashioned but if I saw someone in medical difficulty I wouldnât try to discern their political leaning before rendering aid or dialing 911. Not long ago while I was enjoying an early morning at a local dog park, a disabled gent and his brother arrived. The disabled fellow never made it inside due to a nasty face plant in some rather large and sharp decorative rocks (Tucson has desert landscaping). There he was bleeding and unconscious. Now, trump by his own admission would turn away in disgust (he said so in those words about an accident at Mar-a-Lago). I, on the other hand rendered aid as best I could after dialing 911. I never asked about the guyâs politics nor did I ever find out what they were to this day. Later when I saw him he thanked me effusively.
Yes we are in a political cold war and it needs to stop âŚor we will lose what we have⌠tattered as it is.
BUT
Should democrats achieve a majority in the House I intend to crack an unopened bottle of Bulleitâs 10 yr old bourbon and Iâll take a sip, two if the Senate flips.
Iâve been to Iowa and enjoyed the time there. Met some really nice folk too so it is hard for me to square that those nice folk would elect a turd like Steve King to Congress. It just does not compute.
Save the empty bottle. Theyâre good for cracking GOPerâs skulls.
Just sayinââŚ
Not that thereâs anything wrong with that.
It will be a very long time before that bottleâs empty, assuming Mrs darr doesnât partake. I gave up drinking at a âprofessionalâ level some time ago due to medication I hafta take (due to advancing age). Truth be known I still like the taste, just not the effects.
and I can think of another thing he can do with a stick.
Nobody outside understands it because itâs going on entirely in their heads. Abortion is still a big one as always, but to a large degree its not so much what the current moment is about. Most of the âculture warâ issues theyâre fighting arenât even real things that affect them or anyone they know, even in a hypothetical âyouâre infringing on my beliefsâ way like same sex marriage did. As you say, many of these are people who have never met a black or Jewish person, let alone a trans person.
