This is SO difficult for me, but I think the bottom line is that Al has been railroaded and for no great benefit. Due process is going through a tough time right now.
Franken said that ordinary Americans need to become better informed in order to “get this country back on track.”
They'll get around to that once they're finished binge watching "The Voice" and checking on various Kardashian shenanigans.I thought that, in the end, it was time for him to go. In part he was the victim of changing standards–standards that have changed for the good, but he got whipsawed by the shift. Still, whatever his weaknesses, his has been a voice for democratic values, and it will be missed.
I hope Senator Franken will continue to speak out on issues from his next perch. He’s correct in that we need to keep speaking for truth and logic because to do otherwise is suicidal.
Despite his personal shortcomings, I thought he performed admirably as Senator and wish him well.

As long as there’s a cable news channel that spews out lies and hate 24 hours a day, defends Trump no matter what, continually bashes Democrats - and is watched and believed by a big chunk of the dimwitted citizens of red state America, we have lost the war.
The death of Roger Ailes, the supposed moderating voices of the Murdoch sons having more influence on FNC, Loofah Boy being forced out, was all meaningless.
Progressives have lost one of the few rational and outspoken forces in the Senate, And to what end? Despite his rather foolish acts in the past, for which he has apologized and taken responsibility, his absence from the Senate floor will only handicap the causes of women’s rights, health care, economic equality and equal rights. Worse still, it represents the loss of yet one more voice who dare’s to speak truth to power.
Fucking. Infuriating.
The truth will out.
He’s not wrong and he’s not the one lying. It really is shameful that he was railroaded out of office by members of his own party. The circular firing squad continues.

Stone wanted to take Franken down for his role.

I think the Washington Post should hire Mr. Franken as an investigative reporter, say maybe on the White House beat?

The GOP has cast its lot with the credulous, angry, frightened hordes that make up much of American voter rolls. The truth is the enemy of the GOP and conservatives. The truth is the antidote for the republican disease infecting so much of DC. Franken is witnessing the slow decline of American Exceptionalism at the hands of the dark, cynical GOP. Recommending that the populace become “more informed” is about as likely as thinking the obese among us will suddenly eat more plants and start a YMCA membership. The GOP loves ignorant, angry, desperate voters; those voters are just a market to be exploited, not one to be educated and elevated. America truly is in decline and nothing proves it more that the fact that Donald Trump sits in the Oval Office.
