Discussion: 'I Have Never Struck A Woman': Avenatti Denies Claims Of Domestic Violence

Like everyone else in the news and puts themselves out there, this was politically motivated with lies as you can read in this link… He was booked but never saw the jail since he bailed out instantly for $50K, peanuts for Avenatti. His case will be dropped within days. This was only a sad attempt to denigrate a guy who’s trolled Trump successfully for many months so he made plenty of enemies. Hence these lies and coordination with a right-wing prosecutor out of control:

He was apparently released right away and his ex wife said she never knew him to be violent in any way. This is up at the Daily Beast:

ā€œā€""ā€œI look forward to being fully exonerated.ā€ TMZ reported earlier that Avenatti was arrested after his ā€œestranged wifeā€ filed a domestic violence report. However, lawyers for Lisa Storie-Avenatti told BuzzFeed News she was ā€œnot subject to any such incidentā€ and she had ā€œnever known Michael to be physically violent toward anyone.ā€ā€"""

Perhaps it’s true but there’s plenty of reason to think this fabricated. Avenatti is demon to Conservatives. It would’t be that difficult for some die hard GOP’er to set this up. The Democrats, again, probably took bait when they acted.

If this is a bogus claim, it is incredibly damaging to his reputation. What people will remember is the initial story and not pay attention when it is refuted. I guess we’ll eventually find out how this came about.

They arrested Stormy Daniels on a phony charge somewhere, why not the same here ?

Let’s hope the LA police are aware that some unscrupulous people might try to make a false allegation against a celebrity. Beyond that, there are other funky things in his life–business dealings that aren’t quite squeaky clean, that sort of thing. And is he such a political threat that it’d be worth cooking up a conspiracy that could land your own self in jail? Lots of questions here.

Where was Donald Segretti when this went down??

Seriously, it’s now clear that Gary Hart was totally set up with that Donna Rice thing. Derailed a serious presidential candidate. So you always want to be cautious both ways, I think.

In a sane world possible legal troubles of the bombastic lawyer of a former porn star should hardly be of interest to anybody else. Now some hope and others fear this would hurt his reputation enough to bring it down to the level of current POTUS.

I was hoping to get in before ā€œthis claim of domestic violence is obviously a political hit job, because it makes the guy I like look badā€

Nope. First comment.

I’m not advocating locking the guy up and throwing away the key on an accusation, but I have no more faith in Michael Avenatti than I have in the LAPD.

While I like some of the effects of his actions, on the whole I’m not a huge fan of MA. That said, assuming this is a false allegation I hope he nails whoever is culpable to the wall and extracts an eight-figure defamation verdict out of them.

If you print the article and underline the facts you won’t have a lot of lines on the page. I’m not defending Avenatti but smear is an arrow in the Republican quiver.
Funny how in the Florida recount for example, the folks participating in and facilitating the ā€œprotestsā€ are not only linked to 2016 but in some cases the 2000 recount. Just sayin’ they have a well oiled machine.

A search with Google shows that ALL the first websites to pick up on the original story by TMZ were politically right wing sites.

Unsurprisingly each of those right wing sites added material to the TMZ story that was orthogonal to this new story but suggest nefarious things about Avenatti’s dealing with his business partners, particularly the alleged fraud on them, the many lawsuits involving the holding company that owns the Tully brand coffee franchises, and a many complaints leading to a ā€˜pending’ hearing before the California state bar.

But here’s something odd: on Tuesday morning, over 12 hours before the first story on TMZ, the Seattle Times published a story that shows that the California State Bar this week completely dropped all investigations into Avenatti including exonerating him on all the complaints of his former business partner and all complaints relating to his alleged involvement with the closing of all the Tully franchise stores in 2017 and 2018.

And it turns out that this California State Bar hearing was the LAST of all those complaints, as the CA state bar specified that it accepted Avenatti’s evidence that he sold all his interests in the Tully franchises to a third party holding company over 4 years ago, has had no interest in nor any involvement at all with that holding company or Tully Coffee operations since then, that his former supposed law partner and business partner was actually not a law practice partner but a partner in a specific limited venture that ended some years ago and that lawyer has attempted to use a claim of interest is Avenatti’s alleged interest in the Tully stores in hopes of making up his losses on their joint venture (the former alleged law partner now says he’s ā€˜free’ from the ā€œAvenatti complicationā€ to sue the holding company directly, while acknowledging his acceptance that Avenatti it turns out did NOT retain any interest in that, which suggests their joint venture had to do with Tully Coffee and not any legal practice business).

So the SAME DAY as every other legal complication that Avenatti has been associated with in right wing and most mainstream press stories is ended, THAT’s the day this ā€˜new’ event arises, allowing all those right wing and main stream news sites to once again recycle all the old stories without noting that all of them have been completely resolved in Avenatti’s favor - as he had predicted they would be.

That means the only remaining attack on Avenatti would be Trump’s nonsense, echo’d throughout right wing news so naturally repeated by msm news orgs, of insisting on calling Avenatti ā€˜that porn lawyer’, based on nothing more than Avenatti being counsel of record and frequent TV guest as lawyer for Stormy Daniels in her claims involving Trump.

To that all the right wing websites plus msm sites in reverb plus even TPM like to add in Sen Grassley’s supposed referral to the FBI to investigate one woman’s complaint about Kavanaugh on which Avenatti acted for her. But there’s actually no indication at all that FBI has found anything at all that’s criminal or fraudulent or even contrived about that woman’s complaint or in Avenatti’s involvement in presenting it. Grassley in fact has a long and frequent history of such referrals, and so far as I know, NOT EVEN ONE has resulted in any charges.

So what this looks like is a timed effort to by someone to drag out the whole discredited line of complaints about Avenatti. The only remaining question is who instigated this latest effort, because clearly it wasn’t brought about by either of Avenatti’s ex-wives.

We don’t know enough yet to conclude that Avenatti’s the subject of some serious Republican rat fornication here, but it sure looks like that so far.

Except Michael Avenatti is not a serious presidential candidate. I can’t insert Spanish accent characters into the TPM comments, but he is quintessentially, what in Castilian is referred to as a Buscon.

Its not about the LAPD per say. They were responding to a abuse claim, if it turns out to be bogus then iam sure the LAPD will be having a word with the people who made the claim.

Jacob Wohl took credit for the arrest yesterday.

Agree and I said Hart was serious, as in a viable president taken out of the running by a totally false and manufactured hit job. That says nothing about my thoughts on Avenatti’s character, seriousness, or fitness for office. But I think it does say something about epistemic modesty. None of us know one way or the other. Like @erik_t I’m troubled to see our side acting exactly like theirs when somebody putatively at least on our side is accused of something. Might as well say ā€œfake news.ā€

The way CA law is written with regard to domestic violence, the police are almost bound to make an arrest, sort it out later. I know of two non-celebrities who had this happen to them, with the matter dropped in hours. Both involved couples on verge of divorce. ā€œUnscrupulousā€ doesn’t begin to describe anyone who would do this as some kind of revenge or to fuck over someone.

WHO is the ā€˜victim’? I’m not an Avenatti fan but this seems ā€˜funny’…it’s not his ex-wife or current girlfriend. It’s not any of his women clients. It’s got Harvey Levin and TMZ wrapped up in it who are up to their … whatevers …in Trump worship…what is going on?

Don’t care, Michael. You’re an attorney, not an official; so whatever messes you get yourself into are your own business.

Thanks for sticking it to Trump, but-

A) You’re getting paid.
B) You’re getting free advertising.

Hope you didn’t do it, but if you did- your a@@ belongs in jail.
