Please tell me that this doesn’t mean that the doctor is going to have to eat in the cafeteria with the great unwashed masses!

Oh, and Candy Carson is not going to be amused…

@harry_r_sohl - I hope the craftsman/woman who has the contract to make this dining set has a cancellation clause in the contract.

Who (in their right mind) would put this in an office environment?

From CNN: https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/01/politics/carson-dining-room-canceled/index.html

"The $31,000 dining set includes a table, sideboard, breakfront – all in mahogany – and 10 mahogany chairs with a blue velvet finish…The table and two base pedestals cost more than $4,000. The pedestals are described as having “hand applied ebonized inlay with bell flowers topped by hand carved scrolls and a
fluted column.” Eight Regent dining side chairs from the David Phoenix Collection total $7,920 ($990 a piece) and are described as “stately … with rich exposed wood detailing the back and a graciously sculpted leg.” Two additional armchairs are a bit more expensive – $1,050 each. But it’s the Jefferson sideboard, wood top and breakfront deck base from the Alexa Hampton Collection that really racked up the charges. The three pieces total $13,579. “Crafted of crotch mahogany, satin wood and quartered mahogany borders, carved teardrop and dentil molding on crown…”

Ok, good start. Now how about that $165,000 contract for lounge furniture? https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/feb/27/ben-carson-spokesman-falsely-denied-expensive-table-bought

Funny thing about being the GOP’s token black dude:

You also get to be their token oversight effort.

In a statement reported by CNN, Carson said that after trying unsuccessfully to fix his office’s aging dining room furniture, he was told it “was beyond repair and needed to be replaced.”

Pretty sure there is some very nice furniture in the basement of a government building that you can use.

So he is now rescinding the purchases his spox claimed never occurred.

What a clown.

“was beyond repair and needed to be replaced.”

Oh, please, stuff it. How does furniture in a governmental office get “beyond repair?” What sort of parties do they throw there anyhow? And what about the multi $100,000 redecoration that is being planned? How can the fixtures deteriorate so fast?

I bought a subscription to the Guardian some months ago over their Trump Admin coverage, not disappointed…

I love this bit

Williams, 29, is a former spokesman for the Republican National Committee, where he served as a deputy to Sean Spicer, Trump’s former White House press secretary. Williams is the son of the Fox News presenter Juan Williams.

When asked on Tuesday to explain his misleading statement, Williams falsely stated that he had been asked only about spending on improvements to Carson’s office from what he called “the decorating budget”.

“That’s what you were asking about, was the decorating budget, and no table was bought with the decorating budget,” said Williams. He then claimed he had actually been unaware a table had even been bought. “I walked over there and there was no new table there, so I did not know,” he said. “I did not find out until much later.”

Williams then said that he had another phone call coming in and terminated the interview.

What about the $164,000 in “lounge furniture”? That gonna stay? Or will you give that up too when you start getting heat for it? Kleptocracy and self-aggrandizement. The hallmarks of any good autocracy.

There will be plenty of beneficiaries of the recent tax cut who will be glad to take it off his hands. Washington and NY are swimming in the swamp creatures who have gotten rich beyond all thoughts of avarice who can pay for that out of pocket change.

Uncle Ben: How long do you think Generalissimo Trump will continue to hold office?
You’re dumb as a bag of rocks.

“needed to be replaced”

Still haven’t heard a good argument explaining WHY that is. Again, WTF does HUD need with a dining room?
