Discussion: HUD: Carson Directs Agency To Cancel Order For $30,000 Dining Set

Has anyone sent him an Ikea catalog ? I’m sure someone in the dept. can put the things together.

Well, the fact that it’s all made out of endangered species poached out of rain forests would have made Pruitt happey and jealous.

“People are dumber than a sack of hammers. Just tell them we’re not ordering any expensive furniture, they’ll believe us and then we’ll do what we want…wait, what?”

He’s rescinding purchases that that he claimed he couldn’t stop because of Those Civil Servants. As secretary, he was just completely helpless to control those people.

But now he’s ripped his shirt off all Hulk-like.

“Crotch Mahogany”. Sounds like a future porn name for Hope Hicks.

In an email to TPM Wednesday, a HUD spokesperson said in part that “[i]t’s not unusual for Senior Executive Service (SES) employees to be rotated” and called the furniture a “building expense.”

What does this have to do with this story? How does the “rotating” of Senior Executive Service employees affect whether this is a building expense, private office expense or other?

$599. Seat cushions made of Bobopedic memory foam.

Damn, that rich Corinthian Leather® was going to feel mighty fine on Carson’s bare ass while he sat munching granola in the morning. Sad!

I don’t see a issue with the top person at HUD having a dining room, it can be used to host people, and have meetings etc. Though maybe revamping the room to a different use would be better, as it sounds like it was setup quite a long time ago. If they just kept within the 5k budget as they are required to their wouldn’t be a story here.

That response is about how the person who refused to spend more then 5k got reassigned (demoted).

And she was only in that job position for 7 months, so the rotating thing is also BS.

Sunlight is, indeed, the very best disinfectant.

Great idea. (and, I noticed in the ad that HUD could purchase “Bob’s Goof Proof Protection” policy for just a little more and it will be repaired for free!)

Technically this is not true.

OT: With the discussion of Trump-aged Semion Mogilevich back on, I couldn’t help but notice this fact in his wiki bio.

In early 1991, Mogilevich moved to Hungary and married his Hungarian girlfriend Katalin Papp. He had three children with her, and obtained a Hungarian passport. Living in a fortified villa outside Budapest, he continued to invest in a wide array of enterprises, including buying a local armament factory, “Army Co-Op,” which produced anti-aircraft guns,

Clearly, this is a different kind of Russo-Ukrainian mafioso, but it also brings in the consistent links of Hungary, Brexit and the US election. It’s almost arbitrary and historical that the cards fell this way after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

I hear you. But are we sure this is a “made in America” set? I mean, after all, this is for a minion of Crime Family Trump, who outsource all their stuff to countries that support child labor…
