Discussion for article #243810

Trying to lock in the support of Spiro Agnew voters, apparently.

Always amazed at the GOP’ers who never served in the military who seem to think everyone else should.

“You know what I think we oughta tell young people, ‘We aren’t gonna
give you anything! We’re gonna give you the opportunity to get off your
butt and go serve your country and secure your freedom because if you
don’t, nobody else is.’”

Just like you did, right Huckster?

And the media who always fail to confront them with that fact.

Well there goes the lazy pot smoking youth vote, Huck. In reality Huck is insulting all young people. Young people are a lot more driven and success oriented than they were when Huckabee was young. They have to be, the world is tougher now than it was when Huck was a sprout.

Huckabee brays; “The GOP hasn’t changed since 1967!!!123!!!one!!!”
Err…Mike, I think you missed a few intervening decades there buddy. Your party is the new brownshirts these days.

• Mike Huckabee had not voluntarily signed up for military service and came of age as draft was ending. A brief explanation on why a stint in the army is missing in Huckabee?s resume, states the reason as ‘flat feet’.

• Huckabee had all the traits of a natural leader and longed to be of service to his people but his flat feet became a roadblock. “These flat feet have bothered me all my life” he is quoted as saying.

• When he was a freshman in college, Huckabee had enrolled in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) and looked forward to serving in combat. On noticing his flat feet, the ROTC Director discouraged him from joining the army. Huckabee remembers, “He told me there was no point in my continuing because the army wouldn’t have me anyway.”

So we can take back your pension, bodyguards, and taxpayer-funded book deals, too. That about how it works, Fatso?

“All over America I hear young people say, ‘Would you tell me what you’re gonna do? Would you get me free college? Would you make sure that I can have medical marijuana?’"

What do you think the chances are that is true? That young people ( all over America no less ) actually asked a candidate for President if he’d give them pot? I’d say right at zip. This didn’t happen. Huckabee doesn’t young people that’s for sure. But what kind of a bastard must you be to holy roll all over the country and spew hate and false witness in a single sentence to a national audience? Lets be frank…this man is not the Christian he professes to be.

No he did not. He was old enough to catch the tail end of Vietnam but did not volunteer to do so. No one in his birth year was drafted. He could have but did not.

He’s just being true to his principles: “if you don’t, nobody else is.” Well apparently those future young people didn’t serve their country–or at least they hadn’t when Huck was 18. So the power of logic compelled him not to serve either.

Is he including his spawn and grand-spawn? Are they going to serve? In combat?

Some excuse huck has, I knew a Marine when I was in service that had flat feet. He had to sign a waiver to get in but he wanted to serve a lot worse than huck it seems
