The directive has been in existence since Title IX was enacted in the 60s, all the administration did was to once again clarify fact.

That already is the Catholic Church. Itās traditional, so the conservatives have no problem with it.

Chammy, thatās just ignorant. My comment had nothing to do with Sanders - you brought that up. I certainly donāt hate Obama, but heās mortal. His appointment of Duncan, from the beginning, was a major fuck-up. I, and a lot of other people, suspected it would be because of the awful job Duncan had done here in Chicago. He was a disaster here and in Washington, and Obamaās and his undermining of the public education in this country is a blight on Obamaās record.
But donāt listen to me - go ask some public school teachers.

because i actually have gay friends, kinda, not that thereās anything wrong with that, yadda, yadda, yadda.
With conservatives, itās always about appearances not facts. As long as gays, lesbians and transgenders stayed in the closet not being true to their orientation, the bigots felt they had the right to control their every move It helped give their arguments some sort of warped credibility that were not based in actual fact.
Same thing for blacks before the civil rights movement and women before the suffragettes. It is happening among Hispanics and other immigrants now.
But I have news for these Republicans about public schools. Since they have also destroyed the middle class standard of living, there really arenāt a lot of their own people who can send their kids to segregated private schools any longer.
From where do you think the home schooling concept came? But it doesnāt work any longer either. A least one parent must stay home till the children grow up. That just isnāt an option any longer for most families even if they would like to do it.
Schools are the great equalizers and the place where racial, gender and cultural prejudices are tested and found to be complete lies.
Iām not surprised that the conservative bullies would use bathrooms in schools as their last stand. They donāt have a leg to stand on anywhere else in life. Social media and cell phones have shown a bright light on what really is going on in society when only demagogues try to dictate how the rest of us can relate to each other.
Republicans are desperately talking about putting back up walls not tearing them down. They canāt afford to let us see whatās on the other side. They are frightened that our children and grandchildren may see the truth.

NO ā¦ they want to bar that bearded man in a business suit from using either bathroom - force him to go outside and pee on a bush - be caught & arrested ā¦ thrown (unrestrained) alone into the back of a large police prisoner van - which will repeatedly rapidly accelerate to 80 MPH ā¦ then slam on the brakes to a stop ā¦ over & over ā¦ then chuckle & call the death by head trauma āself-inflictedā ā¦ saying that these ātransgendersā have lots of āemotional issuesā

I still want to know what is about the ladiesā room that have all these conservative men so obsessed. Why is it all men, worrying about what goes on in ladiesā bathrooms?
And how are grown men going to get into the bathrooms at elementary, middle and high schools? We are talking about students, not grown people.
What a stupid thing to be arguing about in 2016 - almost as stupid as arguing about birth control this late in the game.

Itās a āpublicā school and transgendered people are a part of the public. They have feelings and are people too lest the, outraged beyond the ability to reason, conservatives have forgotten that. Transgendered and perverted are not synonymous.
And lets be real, this is nothing more than a fund raiser and wedge issue politics. If the transgendered did the exact opposite, or exactly what the prudes are asking for now, then the prudes would be soiling themselves about that. IOW, they just need a constant reason to bitch and staying ensconced in others crotches is their preferred target, as weird as that is.
The non issues of being black, Latino or otherwise colored, gay-transgendered or female have been present since mankind first stood straight up and saw beyond their hairy noses. The created issues necessary for anyone to side with right wing politics are an invention of modern men that have put their inherent thinking abilities to poor use. These are the bad apples that contaminate everything around them because rotten is as rotten does.

you are right that it is a political wedge issue. like wedge issues republicans have been beating democrats over the head with since 1980. but obama has turned it around and started to beat republicans over the head with it. the people who passionately oppose transgender rights would never vote democrat in a thousand years. they are zealots and true believers. they would prefer that their children, like leelah alcorn run in front of an oncoming semi truck. there is a new metric in america. how do you think obama, a center/left moderate won two terms? my guess. he knows exactly what heās doing.
