Discussion for article #240156
The answer is actually much simpler than the author makes out. Trump doesnât actually believe much of what he is saying. It was calibrated in the Roger Stone sleaze factory to get attention and grab a good share of the Republican vote. Trump is a lifelong scammer with only one thing he truly believes in-Trump.
HaâŚTrumpâŚâsoftââŚhehee
He is also fully aware that the American votersâ memory is short, that voters are easily distracted by shiny things, but most of all, as you said, he is a con.
Trumps opens his big mouth first, then figures out what is really going on second. He is probably slowly coming to an understand that the illegal immigration problem is a lot more complicated then he originally thought, and comprehensive immigration reform that allows people to stay and work is the only answer. Just like people have been saying for decades.
And Roger Stone is an even bigger con than Trump. He was scamming for Nixon way back when. Trumpâs inaugural performance has Stoneâs fingerprints all over it and was as spontaneous as pro wrestling.
Javier Palomarez and Jerry Rivers (Geraldo) donât give a ratâs ass about anything other than their bank accounts.
American businessmen hire workers illegally for the same reason they import cheap shit from China: Organized Capital likes cheap, disorganized labor just fine. Itâs easier for Hispanic American businessmen to hire Hispanic workers illegally because they speak Spanish, understand Latino culture and know lots of friends and family members to provide referrals.
So when the elite representatives of Organized Capital go up into Trump Tower, where theyâre confident the bartender isnât recording an explosive YouTube video, I guarantee theyâre talking about keeping the angry white guys distracted without interrupting the steady flow of disposable cheap labor.
âRepublican voters have been very good at sussing out the electability question of these candidate,â said Princeton University political scientist Ali Valenzuela, pointing to the eventual GOP nominations of Mitt Romney and John McCain over more conservative candidates. âRepublican voters are smartâŚ"
Well Iâm not a Princeton political scientist. But I in my naivete would have thought that pointing to the last two Republican candidates who got trounced in the general would NOT be great evidence for the intelligence of Republican voters in choosing electable candidates.
I was a strong supporter of Dukakis back n the day. Does that show how politically savvy I was in my youth?
âTrump To Return To Fox On Tuesday After 2-Week Absence From Networkâ
Trump To Return To Fox On Tuesday After 2-Week Vacation From Work
There, FIFY.
The article fails to mention that time he said some of the immigrants, he assumed, were good people. Thatâs a spicy meatball of nuance right there, if itâs nuance youâre looking for.
Trump: âHey! You donât think I really believe all that stuff, do you? Yaâ gottaâ give a dog a treat to get its loyalty. Everybody knows that. I wuzâ just blowinâ a dog whistle to bring emâ in. Itâs the art of a political deal.â

Apparently, after calling everyone else, he took the advice to call his Dr. after 4 hours.
See, heâs not just making shit up, heâs seen it first hand!
Those clothes are most certainly made in the U.S.A.!!
False. Trump is a full-blown racist and the con is getting moderates to believe he is only saying it for effect.
True.
So, heâs like a Klansman who purported to have close relationships with ââgoodâ n*****rs who knew their placeâ rather than a Nazi who believed the only good Jew was a dead one. Oh yeah, all aboard the Electability Express! Next stop the White House.
Itâs a shame no one reads the New Yorker and, more specifically, the recent article about how jazzed the white racists are over the way Trump is moving the Overton Window back into a place where itâs totally okay to have openly racist views, because weâre totally done with that whole PC thing. Also of note however, is the reluctance of the other candidates to say âwe donât want or need the votes of Klansmen, Nazis and other racist creeps.â
"we don't want or need the votes of Klansmen, Nazis and other racist creeps."
You could have simply said âthe base.â
So Trump is moderating his message now that the silly season is over and the serious campaigning is about to begin.
Perhaps Trump isnât rewriting every rule of presidential election campaigning, after all.
