Here’s some inspiring news from a Guardian reporter.

ETA I now see @sanni spotted this in an earlier thread.

By sheer coincidence, also the NRA Top 10 Most Pliable…

Y’think California’s Barbara Lee, she of the F rating from same, is a big fan of the NRA? The only vote against the AUMF in either chamber after Sept 11? I have to ask, did you read the list?

I’ve been so proud of the young people who decided enough is enough and they needed to take a stand. But, it is inspiring other crazies. I am right now in my office on campus sheltering in place as there are reports of someone armed on campus. I live in a liberal, metropolitan area and this seemed impossible. I’ve got emails coming in from the students in my next class who are afraid to walk over to this building (and rightly so). Oh, no . . . . The gun lovers are really afraid of the power of these students. I pray this turns out to be nothing but a scare tactic.

Wait, no provision to arm teachers??

Stay safe. And this insanity has to end. Improve coordination between schools and law enforcement? I guess they’re doing everything they can do as long as it’s in no way threatening to the craziest and most venal voices in the gun lobby. Which means damn near nothing.

yeah, judging from her twitter feed and some of what I’ve read regarding the bill the only thing I can think of was that it was a protest vote because it didn’t go far enough. As in, did nothing to stop the sale of assault weapons etc, and as @nowarino said, “It’s the least they could do”

Aaaw, how cute…more bandaid legislation that will do nothing. Meanwhile, the lie machine keeps on spinnin’…

Holding up Lott as a legitimate expert on anything is so fucking outraging I can’t even see straight right now…

Here’s the Guardian interview with the 11-year-old organizers and its compilation on other protests.

Read the list, but could not come up with a plausible reason ANY Dem would vote against this, unless they were from a blood red District. I’d be interested in why she, or the other Dem’s voted that way…

$500 million over 10 years, a.k.a. $50 million per year, a.k.a. $1 million per state per year. That will definitely fund all the training and coordination necessary to solve the problem.

Meanwhile, Paul Ryan says the bill “provides a multilayered approach” to identify threats so authorities can intervene before violence occurs. If I recall correctly, the precrime division in Minority Report did not work out as planned.

Clever, do nothing to appear as if one did something.
