Discussion: House GOPer Subpoenas DOJ For Docs On Page Surveillance, Clinton Probe

I’d like to ask “have you no shame”" but, unfortunately, I already know the answer…

Let me guess. The DOJ and FBI will rightfully stone-wall this demand at least until Mueller’s probe is complete and indictments are handed down. Irreparable harm to the investigation would result if the Repbliscum lead committee ever gets their grubby hands on grand jury testimony, witness statements and more. Oh, and if they can stop the release until the November elections and we Democrats win the House, watch this all go away as, under House rules, when we take over this committee all previous subpoenas can and will be cancelled. Game-set-match Goodlatte!

Still at it I see.

We see how well that went with ‘recused’ bullshit artist, Devin Nunes (or is it Evin Dunces? Only thing needed to be added is the ‘c’.) Now its Badlatte’s turn.

I do hope Chris Wray figures out that handing over anything to House GOP Reps at this point is nothing more than attempts at witness tampering, especially after their last effort to go after Christopher Steele and the dossier, which resulted in a couple of weeks of flaming nonsense and a laughable memo being issued in essence to go after the Mueller’s probe in an effort to discredit it.

Privately I do what I can, but I think the national Democrats have to start explaining to the nation that the Republican party has changed over the decades, become rabidly radical and tribal, and is now a completely corrupt crime machine that’s profoundly betrayed the nation. The only way this kind of propagandistic crap can be anything but laughable is because so many people don’t realize that. They only see “questions being raised” and so forth. The media need to do their part too, obviously, but certainly it’s incumbent on the Democrats.

In congressional Republicans’ latest attempt to undermine the Russia investigation, House Judiciary Chair unindicted co-conspirator Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) on Thursday evening issued a subpoena to the Justice Department demanding documents on the surveillance of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server, and the decision to fire Andrew McCabe from the FBI.

Bob Goodlatte…Moron says what?

I hope Mueller starts looking into you, you traitorous fuck. You, Ryan, McConnell, Comrade Nunes – I hope you all get investigated, and be made to PROVE that you’re not Russian assets. See how you assholes like it, after 25 years – probably more – of accusing Dems of everything under the sun.

Nine months, and nine days, till a new, (hopefully) Democratic, Congress. And I hope, once Democrats are in charge, that Congress investigates Goodlatte’s “potential connections” to Russia, and his “potential abuses” of the Judiciary Committee’s subpoena and investigative powers.

Still worth making Goodlatte answer it on the record, though.

Does he really want an answer about why there were announcements about the investigations of clinton but none about the investigations of trump?

I hope so too, but I’m afraid it’s like hoping a Republican, Trump-appointed, FBI Director - who formerly worked for Republican Chris Christie - will show some ethical backbone instead of being chest-deep in Republican corruption himself.

Dumb move, GOP; this government leaks like Archimedes’ Water Thief.

Once the details of Page’s agency for Russian Intelligence leaks out the current low boil on Trump* will turn into a steam explosion in a pressure vessel.

Please proceed.

So have I lost the story here with all the other shit being flung around?
Carter Page was caught up in an investigation of a Russian spy ring in 2013(?), so then why wouldn’t the IA’s and FBI keep tabs on him? And when Page inserts himself (or did some one else insert him) into the Trump campaign why wouldn’t IA and FBI wonder what was he up to? The activities of the Trump campaign seemed to bring together known and unknown actors wanting, willing, and sometimes able to keep bringing a foreign country into an American political campaign. I would hope that if Page had been caught up in a China spy ring (yes I know they have different methods) then the response from IA and FBI would be the same.

Am I getting any of this correct?

Fortunately, they’re incompetent.

Page was likely directed by his FSB handler to join the Trump campaign. I believe Russian Intelligence got greedy, and tried to orchestrate a penetration ‘Dream Team’ through the completely compromised Trump organization.

This overplay gave U.S. intelligence multiple vectors of surveillance and approach, allowing them to roll up operatives and assets who may or may not have known about each other.

Adding to the discussion, successful Intelligence gathering is subtle- whether it is SIGINT or HUMINT.

The Trump Treason on some level is likely distracting us from more insidious penetrations; chewing up limited resources. But it must be done.

All of it. The only thing you’re missing is that the entirety of the GOP is also caught up in - or essentially is - a Russian spy ring, and thus feels compelled to protect Russian assets instead of America.
