Discussion for article #232030
I think it’s shit like this that, more than anything, will keep the Senate filibuster alive for the next 2 years. It gives Boehner room to do whatever crazy the House demands while giving McConnell procedural cover to shut it down without a single Republican having to vote.
Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS), a frequent thorn in the side of Republican leaders, supported the bill but was fatalistic about the next steps.
“I think it’s a strategy that doesn’t have a great probability of success,” he told TPM, "which is why I opposed going down this route in December and November.
Yet he supported the bill with a yes vote.
TPM, we need an eye roll smiley.
Even a republican called the bill conservative overreach LOL Houston, we may have a problem lol #Failed Republican Leadership
The Klan-rigged Super No Party!
So who were the two Democratic Reps. that voted for this crap? Names please. I suppose going against comprehensive immigration reform, which most of the country is in favor of, and which bodes ill for the GOP ahead of any national election, is about what we can expect from this new House of Representatives. Same as the old one…Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

This goes on your permanent record assholes. Keep up the magnificent work. You’re off to a truly insignificant start. And what a bunch of idiots.
Off topic here, but I’m not sure how much longer commenting will be available here at TPM, just wanted to say its been fun.
Is criticism making the reporters cry? On what basis do you make this claim
If the President’s action are so obviously outside the law, take legal action; don’t hold our security hostage.
You really think the Republicans are going to shut down the Department of Homeland Security? I don’t. If they did and something happened all of their careers would end. If nothing happened we would all start to wonder if we really need a Department of Homeland Security.
Reagan and both Bushes did the same thing.
Looks like Peterson (Minn) and Ashford (Nebraska)

Yet another GOP circle-jerk…why not staple the “repeal obamacare” amenement too?
Nothing that happens in the next two years should come as any surprise to anyone. The Republicans didn’t bait n switch, everyone knows what they want to do to Healthcare, immigration, civil rights, women’s rights, Wall Street, etc, etc, and yet the people voted them into a majority to both houses of congress.
You get what you vote for.
These little portly bagger doggers are insane…HS is NOT FUNDED BY THE GOV"T but by Fees, fines, etc! If it is shutdown what will happen to border security and the immigrants coming across the border to work for the gop bags corporate bosses???
Immigration is funded by fees. Most of HS is funded by the congress.
Thanks.
And the Repugnants make sure that the Hispanic vote goes to Democrats for the next 30 or 40 years. Way to go, fellas!
When the opposition takes your supposed facial positioning as an affront, you know they got nuthin’.
I think the whole point of this is for the benefit of their base. It makes it look like they tried to do something about illegal immigration even though they know it won’t get past the Senate.
