Discussion: House Freedom Caucus Chair: Don't Link Harvey Aid To Raising Debt Limit

If the Freedumb Caucus is opposed to linking aid for Hurricane Harvey to raising the debt ceiling, then obviously they need to be in the same bill to prevent these nihilists from sabotaging the government. The Democrats can help pass it.

Yeah, let’s only allow cuts to children’s healthcare and tax cuts for the rich and limits to the funding of Mueller’s Russia probe and other things like that to be attached. You know, the Republican Christian-y kinds of debt-limit add-ons.

The Freedumb Caucus of idiots needs to be ignored.

Two very different issues, huh? So what happens when Congress tells the government to spend x on aid, but the government hits the debt limit before having spent x and is thus un-able to comply?

‘Let’s go ahead and increase the debt ceiling, and by the way, while we’re doing it let’s go ahead and spend another $15, $20 billion dollars?’

They’re giving an extra $50 billion to Defense, no questions asked (and no audit).

Meadows continued:

"The House Freedumb Caucus will never allow an increase in America’s debt!

Except to blow a multi-trillion-dollar hole in the deficit through Trump’s corporate tax-cut proposal.

Then, of course, the sky’s the limit."

We shouldn’t forget the relief expense will be reduced a bit when you consider brown and black victims only get 3/5 that of what patriotic Americans receive.

@steviedee111 yes, I was going to amend Meadows’ statement thusly:

“As long as we keep the emergency relief really to support the white people in need,” he said, “I think you’ll find plenty of conservative support, and certainly my support.”

What Meadows said: “As long as we keep the emergency relief really to support the people in need, I think you’ll find plenty of conservative support, and certainly my support.”

What Meadows actually meant: “As long as we keep the emergency relief to only support wealthy, white people who make large monetary contributions to our political campaigns, I think you’ll find plenty of conservative support, and certainly my support.”

Paul Ryan’s weak-kneed approach and his abdication of responsibilities has made this radical the defacto Speaker. Or so it appears.

He’s handed the cudgel to the Freedom Caucus by refusing to work with Democrats.

(OK, sorry, inappropriate but first image…)

Holy Jeebus on a Soggy Fucking Triscuit.

In the middle of all the shit going on in Texas, our Governor has just participated in a holy roller prayer service with the Vice President and declared, officially - with a signing statement like 45 does - that Sunday is a DAY OF PRAYER.

Screw this. I’ve had enough.

Chemical plants exploding, cities under water, cities whose water supply is cut off, and the midget in a wheelchair can only Pray?

I hope his electric wheelchair goes through a puddle and short-circuits.

“He said connecting the two would be “conflating two very different issues.””

LOL! Remember: this is a guy who wants to hold SCHIP hostage to secure tax cuts for millionaires and billion-dollar donor companies and further damage the ACA. The bag of dicks he should be sucking is bottomless.

your assemblies are a stench to me.

Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings,
I will not accept them.
Though you bring choice fellowship offerings,
I will have no regard for them.

Away with the noise of your songs!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.

“The boisterous sea of liberty is never without a wave.” ~ Thomas Jefferson

I hope this wave flushes all the Republicans out to sea.

If that will turn it into an electric chair - YES!

Abbott is so fucking useless that I saw an editorial yesterday on CNN calling for him to resign. He fucked up by countermanding orders from the mayor of Houston to start this whole debacle and it’s gone from there and yeah, now Beaumont has lost it’s water plant until nobody knows when, the Arkema plant is blowing up and they still don’t now how many people are missing.

Abbot is a disgrace along with the rest of the GOP - look at Ted Cruz whirling around over federal help he wanted to deny the victims of Sandy.

The Texas GOP created this disaster, I wish they’d all drowned.
