Discussion: House Freedom Caucus Chair: Don't Link Harvey Aid To Raising Debt Limit

Did you see Rachel last night? The only thing to come out of the chemical plant explosion in West was for then AG Abbott to get the law changed so that chemical plants no longer have to report what caustic chemicals they are storing.

I’ve tried to help out in Houston - volunteered all day yesterday. 290 is now open and I am packing up and leaving.

I think this is all about Freedom Caucus having things they want to attach. They want to be able to hold the debt-ceiling hostage for their riders without having to be seen as also holding the aid money hostage.

Yeah you did your best and you are awesome for doing it.

I saw that segment and it really made my hair stand on end.

Awesome quote. That entire passage of Amos is eerily relevant.

Who calls for the waters of the sea
And pours them out on the surface of the earth,
The LORD is His name.

destruction comes upon the fortress

For I know your transgressions are many and your sins are great,
You who distress the righteous and accept bribes
And turn aside the poor in the gate.

I have clients in Beaumont and one of them just blew my mind (soon to be ex-client). Checked in to see how they were doing and was told, “President Trump will save us. He said so in Corpus.”

Dear Congressman Meadows; I’ll type slowly so you can understand. You need to raise the debt limit to pay for the money you have already spent. Hope this helps.

Man, the Incompetent Blackmailers are still trying to make that ‘the Sandy relief bill was loaded with pork,’ argument work. (laugh, laugh, laugh laugh)

She’s insightful and thorough. I’m not one for TV news usually. The few times I tune her in for a few minutes I’m left wishing she’d acquire some brevity to her presentation.

Are you a disgruntled speech writer for the Freedumb Caucus or a mind reader?

15 or 20 billion? Dream on Mr. Meadows. The first bill will likely be closer to $100B and we will be well past $200B before it’s done.

Of course, this doesn’t really get deficit busting tax cuts done, does it? So I guess the plan is to pretend the cost is 5% of the actual number for now, claiming surprise once tax cuts are done?

“First of all, ok? Nobody knew hurricanes could be so expensive, right? We’ve never been hit by a hurricane before, so no one knew,…”

She goes over certain ’ explanations ’ … a little too repetitive for me …

but there are some who require such …

I say good for her and good for the trend toward a more liberal perspective —

I think the plan is to pretend tax cuts are a net reduction of the deficit – same thing Reagan did that ballooned the deficit in the 80s. Exactly the same.

That’s so fucking great. Americans really do care about the country - that just makes my day.

Me too. She explains everything 3 times. Twice would suffice.

Don’t care if the purity posters slam me for saying this, but…

Often have to tell my lesbian lawyer friends that it is called a brief for a reason.
