I have been wondering how the Canada election is percolating through people’s minds in this country this morning. I haven’t decided what, if any, impact it is/will have, but its certainly an interesting thought.
The headline with the word “quit” (vs. retire), the pic of King attached to the story and leading one to believe he might quit or retire, and King’s comment makes the entire story misleading. Sorry TPM, poor journalism.
Oh, for fuck’s sake. “Moderates”, my ass! There haven’t been moderates in the Republican Party since Teddy Roosevelt. And Peter King is about as moderate as the foreskin of Joseph McCarthy’s zombie dick.
Funny…at the time I was reading about that, I was consulting some Santeria folks…
Instead of quitting, they could threaten to vote for Pelosi. It would be fun to see heads explode.
There is an obvious solution here. Just marginalize the crazies and work with the Dems and govern per your oaths of office. Pretty simple. No need to fall on one’s sword and feign innocence in face of calamity. Step up and do your job!
No, no, no, no! There are no “moderate” Republicans. There are only Batshitcrazee’ Rightwing Republicans and slightly less Batshitcrazee’ Rightwing Republicans.

There…fixed it for you! You’re welcome.
The word from Todd and Morning Joe over at MSNBC says, “nix on that”
Bad for the 2016 Horserace.
“moderate”
No. Stop it. This is the oldest trick in the book. Extremists are not moderate just because those with whom they associate are nutjobs by comparison. Plutocrat Pauly’s policy positions are extremist, no matter how deliberately and unnaturally shifted the Overton’s Window you or the beltway MSM choose to look through is.
The voters in red districts don’t even know that Canada had elections.
They think Canada is in Europe.
aw come on you know their not gonna quit…there just doin what they always do…lie
I prefer to think of them as the “not criminally insane” wing of the party.
Ha the teabagger revolt of 2010 and their resulting self proclaimed political “capitol” have come full circle to bite um the ass something good.
If they lose either of majorities in 2016 Ryan as speaker will hurt the GOP.
And get off the gravy train they’ve been riding for years and find honest work? Never happen.
The Tea Party leaders, firmly in control of the national Republican Party, hear the threat from “moderates” and they just laugh and celebrate:
But a lame duck caucus in the House could freely deal with Pelosi on behalf of their corporate masters.
Cut to a picture of several Republican congressthings holding guns to their own heads: “Do what I say or the Republican Party gets it!”
Peter King may be many things, but “moderate” ain’t one of them. Supporter of the IRA? Check. Anti-choice! Check. Lost his mind after 9/11? Double-check.
For a year? And how do the corporate masters respond to that? By financing Dems in the races to replace those seats. Because its not a viable long term strategy to support republicans on the basis that they will work with Dems to get your things pushed through. Its far better to just go ahead and support Dems all the way to get your things pushed through.
We just need 30 seats to take back the House. If you had somewhere in the area of 40-50 GOPers retire this way, we take it back. And if we take back the House, we would be looking at taking back the Senate AND keeping the White House.
At that point my concern becomes that the TPers become so unhinged that they take to the streets with their guns.
