Thank you, House of Reps, for reminding us where the REAL crisis is at…

“House Approves Back Pay For Federal Employees After Shutdown Ends”

One of the arguments RWers make to justify the shut down as if back pay eases todays decisions for those affected who need their money as I type.

So, I show up every day and work, and the guy who sits at home doesn’t, and we both get paid the same?

Of course the furloughed ought to be paid, but the unpaid workers deserve double-time+!

Working for the citizens? What a concept (totally lost on the GOP)

As someone who knows two people furloughed and not working, this is highly stressful for them. It’s not like they are at the mall spending money they don’t have. And, they are committed to their work and worry about what is happening to their missions/programs while they are gone. It sucks all around. Thanks for working without pay. Truly.

I know that we’re being fed, ONCE AGAIN, unedited AP reporting here at TPM but wouldn’t it be more informative if someone provided the actual vote from the House? Who was against this?

Clearly, the Senate voted unanimously but that sort of implies that the House did not.

Seriously, if I wanted to be fed AP bullshit, I’d go read it elsewhere.

Clearly, this is a necessary move by Dems – indeed, by any human being with a soul.

But any Republican who uses this to minimize the horrific human tragedy of stiffing almost a million hard-working public servants – along with their families, their communities, the small business owners and employees who depend on them, and tens of millions of additional Americans hit by the ripple effect – has absolutely no concept of “liquidity”.

Again: Why do some people claim we should trust Republicans more than Democrats on the economy?

So however long this idiotic GOP shutdown lasts, we the taxpayers, will have lost the productivity the furloughed employees could have generated had they been allowed to do their jobs, but then we get to pay again for that lost productivity.

How about some class action lawsuits on behalf of the screwed over workers to alleviate the damage to the workers economic situations and the impact to the overall economy?

Stupid is as the GOP does.

ETA, Those seven who voted against are:

Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, Rep. Andy Biggs and Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona, Rep. Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin, Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Rep. Chip Roy of Texas, and Rep. Ted Yoho of Florida.

YES!!!

This, for anyone who has been asleep for two years, is what is called “governing.”

Absolutely. That’s been one of the historical shames of the whole bit, the people who did get forced into the office should definitely get double time, otherwise it’s a slap in their face.

Thanks Chelsea! You certainly did a better job than the cut ‘n’ paste reporting here… :unamused:

It was pretty easy to find. Maybe someone is eating lunch?

Yeah, maybe. Maybe the same people who cut ‘n’ paste AP article about the WI 21-year-old murder suspect.

Feeling a bit HuffPo-y. Hope I’m wrong.

tRump is expected to sign this legislation. Really? Who in the right mind would expect that? He is a vindictive criminal king and if he didn’t sign I wouldn’t be one bit surprised.
I think now he’s just going to try to trash everything knowing he won’t run in 2020 as he could be removed from office one way or another.

Haven’t been over there in a loooong time.

McConnell said he talked to him, and trump assured him he would sign it.

Me neither. Seems like they lost a lot of readers once they went to FB comments, even more when they featured wall to wall Bernie Bros, especially that “if not Bernie, then Stein” idiot H.A. Goodman.
