I hope, finally, we can put a stake through the heart of Reagan’s “nine most terrifying words in the English language, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’” It was a grievous slander against hard working, decent Americans who worked diligently to keep the country running. It’s too bad it has to come to a shutdown for Republicans to realize those folk are a national treasure.
No one has ever held Reagan responsible for that calumnious statement even as it became the official Republican position on governance over the last 30 years.
