Discussion for article #225985
OMG, please don’t tell me they are attacking birth control AND abortion. What’s wrong with these people?
“…a swath of separate legal attacks on birth control…”
They use to say “government is the problem”. Now conservatives believe government is the solution for fixing the problem of women.
the law makes contraceptives available its doesn’t force anyone to use them. So much for the right wing judges wanting a limited scope
Just as Justice Ginsberg said…The Gates of Helll were opened by the male conservative corrupt justices of the roberts coourt!
Call them out .1202. 479.3000 or 1.202.479.3211
This is what happens when WACKO’s are on the court
The primary problem, which the policy fails to address, is that everyone who opposes contraception is wrong. Their wrongness of belief is independent of their sincerity or mendacity. Contraception is a good thing. Family planning is a good thing.
Nevertheless, wrong people should be given the chance to prove their sincerity by actively opposing and working to defeat the Republicans who’re agitating to sidestep the FDA process and reclassify prescription contraceptives as OTC.
Until then, Republicans’ wrong beliefs look a lot like a mashup of Romney’s 47% remarks and Rush Limbaugh’s disgusting attack on Sandra Fluke. It’s a resentfully paranoid, talk radio and social media fueled world view that the country’s overrun by immoral, unworthy takers whose good times are coming at the exalted Job Creators’ expense.
Republicans are the party of Todd Akin accusing women of faking rape to gain permission and sympathy for their abortions, and the party of National Review accusing Wendy Davis of faking abortions to gain Democratic votes. Forgive me for questioning their sincerity.
“The employees are to Hobby Lobby what the daughters are to Paul and Teresa Wieland,”
Businesses lay off employees when the money coming into a business slows down. Do families kick their kids out the door when Mom or Dad isn’t bringing home as much money as before?
Remember David, the real thing they despise is non-reproductive sex, so anything that facilitates that is under attack. To them, the child is the punishment for the crime of having sex.
I’m not sure whether to dis Kapur or the people he is writing about. Probably both.
Man, good thing it isn’t the job of the SCOTUS to actually think about the ramifications of their rulings. Otherwise I’m sure they’d feel silly about now.
Compared to most of what Kapur churns out, this is Pulitzer worthy.
These nutjobs believe that birth control and abortion are exactly the same thing. Thanks, Bill Clinton for your bullshit RFRA law. The more I learn about what stupid legislation went down under Clinton, the less I like Hillary.
Why blame her?
She neither wrote nor passed nor signed that legislation.
First of all, Hillary is not Bill. Secondly, this is not the 90’s. Thirdly, if you haven’t noticed….Hillary is a woman.
Let me guess……hmmmmmm….you’re quite possibly…….a man.
Covering the birth control does not mean they have to use them. That would throw out the thing with the daughters. Plus offspring are not employees, that is creepy.
I thought it was funny that the SCOTUS majority claimed that there had not been a rush of lawsuits and here we go.
The adherents of Christian Dominionism, and their strict Biblical interpretation, move closer to controlling the reproductive choices of all Americans.
I am shocked! Shocked, I say! Who could possibly have foreseen this?
I think expecting what are supposed to be a the nine wisest in the land to see that far in the future is just asking too much!
