It never fails to amaze me the number of āchurchesā in which old men are granted sexual access to young girls, while denying the same to young men and denying autonomy to women of any age. Why itās almost as if they love power and sex more than the deity that is the supposed basis for their cult. They are more Old Testament Bronze Age patriarch than New Testament shepherd.

Religions are also used to codify the power relations in any society and make them appear inevitable and ānatural.ā It does other things, too, some of which are positive, but this has always been a major feature.
