It’s a divide and conquer strategy and unfortunately it has worked already in some instances. When the SC’s dumped the VRA, red states immediately moved to restrict voting. Many other of even better examples exist of red states wanting to violate Federal laws since its good for them, bad for others. Sheriffs in red states have intentionally ignored and loudly denounced Fed law on immigrants rights, literally daring the Feds to come in and make them enforce the law. Civil disobedience is fostered by these clowns at the state level, leading to TX idiots, all Republicans btw, wondering if they can secede from the nation.
So the goal isn’t at all about how well or poorly a state can handle these issues: it’s all about thumbing their noses at the Fed, saying this is how we Republicans lead by pushing back at the ultra-libel Federal sector and be damned about how well things turn out!
They really, really don’t care just as long as they can boast in campaign ads how they smote the Feds with a stroke of a pen!

Mr. Hannity, I do not believe that putting your mouth in neutral and letting it roll should be dignified by the title “work”.
And wasn’t Obama supposed to bankrupt him too? Seems like he’s doing pretty well.
I would have said, “Well Sean, you must be worth tens of millions by now. I guess you work because you enjoy your job. So paying taxes shouldn’t interfere with that.”
Neither seems to understand how a progressive tax rate works.
