Right, because Trump embodies such fine Christian values… GMAFB.
Halpin wrote that “the most powerful elements of the conservative
movement are all Catholic” and described their positions as “an amazing
bastardization of the faith.”
“They must be attracted to the systematic thought and severely
backwards gender relations and must be totally unaware of Christian
democracy,” Halpin wrote.
He should apologize just as soon as you show evidence that his statement isn’t true. Don’t worry–I’ll wait.
Stolen e-mails don’t prove anything. One would think the law & order party would know about fruit from the poisoned tree.
If true, a Catholic, Halpin, is criticizing other Catholics. So, I take from this that Catholics as a group are by no means monolithic. The stuff you find out about. Jeez, I’m the guy that found the lost chord.
I think most Catholics are pretty clear about where anti-Catholic bigotry is rampant, and it isn’t the Democratic Party.
Truth hurts.
“I do like Ted Cruz, but not a lot of evangelicals come out of Cuba, in all fairness. It’s true,” Trump said. “Not a lot come out. But I like him nevertheless.”
It would be very hard to find anti-catholic bigotry anywhere. It is a myth by Bill Donohue and Fox News.
I’m getting the feeling that the scatter gun promulgation of Trump fauxtrages are falling on deaf ears. They are mendacious in the extreme and coming at the public so frequently that folks are just tuning out. Minds are made up and many votes have already been cast. This just comes across as more whining and meaningless Trumprage.
Sender and recipient are Catholics discussing their faith how this can be taken as anti Catholic is something I am missing. I have seen solid theological arguments that a true Christian cannot be a Republican or a Trump voter. I also have seen rock solid arguments that people claiming to be evangelical Christians really practice a hybrid religion drawing from Leviticus in the Old Testament and Revelations from the New Testament and basically a set of other rules made up from puritan views from the 1950’s

Trump is counting on the MSM playing by “Clinton Rules”
These remarks immediately made me think of that raging asshole, Archbishop Dolan.
Indeed. Assange isn’t even a useful idiot for the Kremlin.
As someone raised Catholic I’ve expressed the exact same sentiments. This isn’t bigotry it’s recognizing the flaw/hypocrisy of many Catholics.
Case in point, my Trump loving, Republican voting Catholic cosuins HATE Pope Francis. Why? Well he’s Hispanic after all and all Pope’s should be European (in other words, white). They also hate his “liberal” views. Because a Pope that talks about income inequality, taking care of they neighbor, forgiveness, compassion and women’s rights is clearly not a True Catholic.
They much preferred the hardline, lets go back to the Dark Ages Pope Benedict.
So yeah, a lot of Catholics (the ones the side with Republicans) are, IMO the very antithesis of Christianity
Just google Catholics aren’t Christians, it’s no secret.

Amen.
Halpin, a Catholic, “has spent his career advocating and fighting for the common good and improving the lives of all Americans as a key tenant of his Catholic faith.”
THE RENT IS TOO DAMN HIGH!
“So-called” Catholics, if you please, much like “so-called” Christians. They wouldn’t recognize the Golden Rule if it bit them on their asses. More desperate lies from HO’s camp. It’s almost fun at this point.
That’s an opinion from one of those fundamentalist sects. They have little influence. Catholics are very mainstream today.
Not fair to brand all Catholics or Christians as benighted Trump supporters.
