Trump should feign some temporary disability that requires the elevation of Pence to acting President, until he’s sufficiently recovered to reassume his responsibilities. Pence could issue a “Ford pardon” to Trump, absolving him of all known and unknown criminal acts commencing with his inauguration, or possibly a wider time frame. Then Trump announces he’s all better now and comes back to work.

Sounds like a plan.
