Grassley told Bloomberg News:
âI think itâs legitimate to be incensed and I resent it, because of what Iâve done for him. He had a tough nomination, a tough hearing in my committeeâ
What Grassley didnât tell Bloomberg News:
> If it wasnât for the fact that he was a Republican and a Trump sycophant he would have never made it through committee.
âI think itâs legitimate to be incensed and I resent it, because of what Iâve done for him. He had a tough nomination, a tough hearing in my committee,â Grassley told Bloomberg News.
âThey wanted to call him back every other day for additional hearings about his Russian connection, and I shut them off of that until we had the normal oversight hearing in October I believe it was, see? And the President was going to fire him, and I backed him, you know? So why wouldnât I be irritated?â he added.
Maybe one day Grassley will be incensed by his own actions and inactions during his term in office and resign and retire. It should have happened decades ago.
When it comes to people like Grassley and Sessions, one finally reaches the point of not giving a ratâs a$# about anything they think, say, or do. They are sort of the flotsam and jetsam of our political world.
âi scratched his back and he did not scratch mine. Rather, he stabbed it.â
Wernât Chuck Grassley and his office actively collaborating with Russian intelligence to rig the vote tally and the outcome of the 2016 election? I am wondering whether Sessions and Grassley have different handlers in FSBâs Moscow headquarters.
Grassley: See,sometimes there are three co-equal branches of government, and the executive branch does not run the legislative branch. Other times the Republican Party is the government. Depends on whether Iâve been annoyed.
Grassleyâs linking his umbrage to what he personally did for Sessions makes me incensed! Grassley is telegraphing his stupidity!
Grassleyâs incensed?
Take a number, dude.
Youâve got at least a couple hundred million ahead of you.
The coming battle, I think, will be
[men who think theyâre very, very important in their little fiefdoms are outraged when Trump toadies show insufficient deference]
vs.
[men who think theyâre very, very important in their little fiefdoms think they need to cozy up to Trump because their 27%er constituents adore him]
Not sure whoâs going to win that matchup, but both sides deserve to lose. Grassley is absolutely correct here (and itâs doubly surprising since Sessions damn well ought to know what Senators think of themselves), but he brought it on himself. Perhaps if heâd acted like a coequal branch of government and had a spine a year ago, he wouldnât be disrespected in this way.
Oops.
Grassley followed up in interviews with Politico and Bloomberg News explaining his ire toward Sessions. Grassley told Bloomberg News that he was especially angry with Sessionsâ letter considering how much support he gave Sessions through his nomination process and the Russia investigation.
Boy, if heâs that mad at Sessions, please nobody tell him what Trump has done and continues to do. The old boy just might have a stroke.
To summarize, Grassley expects âloyaltyâ.
You know the old saying, âIf you lie down with douchebags you wake up covered in douche.â
Old guy says something. News at eleven.
There it is.
âThey wanted to call him back every other day for additional hearings about his Russian connection, and I shut them offâŚ"
Nobody does Get Off My Lawn better than this old fool.
Grassley richly deserves any criticism coming his way - but he does have a point here.
Sessions is the AG - it is no longer his job to legislate but to ensure that the laws as passed are followed. Sessions is attempting to dictate the content of legislation and as Grassley rightly points out - Sessions gave up that privilege when he gave up his senate seat.
Grassley gets exactly what he deserves.
This is extremely funny: Grassley getting very publicly miffed that he has âplayed the gameâ on Sessionsâ behalf and Sessions is not playing the game properly back.
Keep drawing attention to your own actions Grassley. Have at it.
