Discussion: Grassley: Clovis' Testimony Could Be Delayed After Papadopoulos Emails

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Wednesday said scheduled testimony by Sam Clovis, President Donald Trump’s pick to serve as the U.S. Agriculture Department’s chief scientist, could be pushed back.

I would certainly hope so!

In fact, all hearings on alt-president Drumpf’s appointments should be postponed indefinitely until the investigation of Russia’s influence on the Drumpf campaign is complete and reported out. Why should we risk putting any more Russian moles into the Drumpf administration and our courts?

he had reviewed emails from the Trump campaign that Grassley said gave a fuller account of Clovis’ and Papadopoulos’ interactions and led him to believe it was “not an issue.”

Great, so release them. Now.

And if Clovis does testify, I want the Democrats on the committee going over the Papadopoulos plea with him line by line.

Found this interesting. Using the fill in the name piece from TPM, the names left blank in this timeline are no mystery.

So they’re going ahead with the confirmation process? It’s not surprising, but…really? He was already a comically inappropriate nominee before Monday.

Translation of Grassley’s mumbling, bumbling comments on Sam Clovis. - "I know he is a candidate for an indictment in the Mueller probe, but I will support him anyway. That is how we roll in the GOP,party first, country second or third. "

He’s a fellow Iowan. Methinks Grassley would vote for Steve King to run DOJ’s Civil Rights Division.

“Clovis’ testimony before the Senate Agriculture Committee—scheduled for Nov. 9—could be pushed back…”

“…eight to ten years. Maybe less, if he plea bargains.”

Wasn’t it enough already that he has no background in either agriculture or science? Oh wait, it’s the norm in the Trump misadministration.

You mean he is a fellow Iowan Republican Know Nothing Liar. Just like Charles “Death Panels” Grassley. And “Cantelopes” King.

About the only qualification this Russian enabling, nonscientist has to be Agricultural Chief is that he could see corn from his back porch in Iowa. Shades of Sarah Palin.

Delayed while Sam decides that he’d like to spend more time with his family.

Grassley is a reliable sycophant for President Dotard – no matter how damning the evidence is against tRUMP and his foot soldiers.
