Well the 10 day shit show of insulting Mrs. Johnson and her friend Rep. Wilson was highly effective at protecting Wall Street crooks from whatever sort of accountability a class action lawsuit might have imposed. One might say that General Kelly’s reputation paid the ultimate price for bankers’ freedom to rip everyone off.
The irony for Graham is that he’s half of the Republicans who managed to do the right thing one time, voting to give the President of the Senate something to do. He wants to cut rich mens’ taxes so badly he forgot about the first good thing he’s done in years. So I guess that’s not exactly irony: just sad.
It’s important to pay attention to Trump and Nazis and Putin and shit, but we really need to stop overlooking the full extent to which, aside from the ones Putin has Kompromat on, like Nunes and Rohrbacher and (yeah, I really think so) Grassley, this Congress is entirely owned and controlled by the Koch Brothers and their allied oligarchs.
They are literally now seriously trying to cut maximum 401(k) contributions to 10% of what they are if you’re old enough to be in the “catch up contribution” zone to pay for tax cuts for rich people. This is a real thing they actually think they, not merely can get away with, but absolutely must do to keep their seats. And the fact that the president is mentally ill is entirely secondary to that objective.
This is the guy whose cellphone number Trump released during the campaign out of pure vindictiveness. You’d think he’d have more integrity, but then you’d be wrong.

No matter what wing–Bernie, Hillary, DNC, none of the above–or status-newbie, Primer, reporter, Masthead–everybody here hates Halperin AFAIK.
The corporate tax thing is the same kind of psychological blind spot that keeps people electing republicans. They advertise up front that they’re evil and dishonest, so when they act that way it’s not really a surprise or a shock. And no one (except for the “naive” “out of touch idealist” types) points out that maybe advertising up front that you’re evil is a bad thing.
By the time cuts are passed, instituted and their effects are fully realized the exploding deficits and lack of resources for infrastructure won’t be felt until the next President takes office. If that’s a Dem he/she will get blamed for the whole mess, plus get vilified for suggesting the tax cuts need rescinded or modified to correct the situation. GOP can run in the 2022 midterms as fighting the raising of taxes by the bad Dems, along with pointing out what a mess the economy has become since the new President took office.
Perhaps this should fall to another thread, but I was thinking…Could Mueller subpoena or otherwise compel testimony from the Federal Attorneys tRUMP is interviewing? My understanding is that although legal, it is HIGHLY unusual. I guess it may bolster obstruction of justice case…? Not a lawyer, but curious if the Jack-ass is so open about covering up his mis-deeds, can Mueller investigate that in ‘real-time’?
