I’ve always thought Gowdy looked a bit line a Schnauzer. One thing they’re good at is smelling what’s in the wind. He just doesn’t want to get buried along with the rest of his party.

It’s hard to tell really. I only know Gowdy the same way we all do - BENGHAZI11111111//11!!! And I really don’t think he was in it for the good of the country.

You never know, he may be feeling somewhat guilty from Benghazi days. As you said he’s an attorney and to fire Mueller now would not be very wise (even Santorum said that today).

Chait’s got this quote in New York Magazine this week:

“Congressional investigations unfortunately are usually overtly political investigations, where it is to one side’s advantage to drag things out,” says Gowdy. “The notion that one side is playing the part of defense attorney and that the other side is just these white-hat defenders of the truth is laughable … This is politics.”

It’s best to keep skepticism active when Gowdy opens his mouth.

In this case, using the ‘criminal organization’ sense of cartel, I’d say yes. Now we need to find a word that combines the two. Cabtel? Carbal? Trump Family?
