Discussion: Government Careens Toward Shutdown After Trump's Wall Demand

Trump always screws workers.

Taking away government workers’ pay before Christmas is just his modus operandi.

The White House said Trump will not travel to Florida on Friday as planned for the Christmas holiday if the government is shutting down.

Lets see how long before he back tracks on this.

Trump cannot avoid reacting to criticism. He MUST punch back when challenged. How long into the day does he last before lashing out at Mattis, in reaction to the withering barbs he’s sure to read and hear throughout the day regarding his resignation? He’ll have to denigrate Mattis to justify the necessity of his leaving.

The Air Force One pilots are already performing their pre-flight checklist.

He might as well stay in Washington, the Stock Market is going to crash today, and his rich buddies in Florida are not going to be too happy.

Long day ahead.

By the end of it, he’ll probably have endorsed the annexation of Crimea, a pullout of all troops from Korea, Japan and Europe, declared war on the Palestinians and withdrawn us from NATO.

It will take him a few days to do all that, after all typing on the phone is slow.

It has already crashed. His rich buddies in Florida will now be able to buy low in order to sell high eventually. Meanwhile, retiree’s meager investments in 401k’s are getting hammered.

Remember Trump celebrating the housing crisis because he made money? I do.

I shouldn’t have written that, he’ll probably just copy/paste it into twitter. I’m sure he’s an avid reader of TalkingPointsMemo.

Hey No Drama Donnie, let’s look on the bright side and if the govt. shuts down and you don’t get to go to Florida then you, your lovely wife and all your charming brood can spend the time in that beautiful Hall of Horrors Red Christmas Tree room. It’s bound to lift your spirits.

Does that include checking for toilet paper on individual 1’s shoes?

Don’t negotiate with terrorists. Trump gets nothing.

Trump is the symptom; the GOP is the disease.

The GOP in Congress hopes that they can blame the shutdown on the Dems. My guess is that they’ll try to do it but Spankee won’t be able to not take credit.

All this flailing about by Our Baby Donnie…

It’s Indictment Friday.

Trump is well known for sowing chaos in order to distract from what’s really bugging him. This last few days, I do believe that’s what he started to do, but he lost control of his “narrative”. He’s not instigating, he’s reacting. Which smells a lot like panic on his part. Cold Sweat Panic.

I wonder what Muller’s going to drop.

I see Mueller deferring the delivery of bad news to perps until after the holidays. Handing down a multi-count felony indictment the weekend before Christmas is possibly bad form in his mind.

We might not have a country at this rate after the holidays, so better to drop it now before donnie sells us entirely out to Russia.

Someone help me with the timeline here:

The Senate has to pass this by the end of the day or the shutdown is a done deal? The the Senate vote needs to be 60? And a buttload of Senators are out of town?
